Plugin for sorting parts into groups by color

Parts color sorter

This is a plugin I made a long time back.
I never posted anything about it but I’d imagine it’s pretty handy for builders.

Don’t you hate it when you see

Simply select the parent object(s) containing the parts you wish to sort.
Every BasePart child of the object you selected will be sorted.

I wrote this because I was working with a builder who had terrible organizational skills.
It’s a fairly simple plugin, however, this is not a substitute for proper grouping and labeling/naming.

Features:

  • Sort parts by color image
    image
  • Select multiple parent objects to sort through
  • Set the speed at which it sorts image

– Default speed is 25. This might be a little slow for maps with many parts.
– The higher this number, the faster it will look through parts.
– Slower computers are recommended to keep this number low.

I wiped this plugin together pretty quick. (as evidenced by the button images)

If people find this genuinely useful, I might make a 2.0 version of this plugin with more features. Maybe have a feature to sort through and only group together same colored parts that are touching each other?

Not gonna lie, this is pretty cool from the standpoint of quick organization. Sure - it doesn’t replace proper organization/labeling nor should it. However, this is a great way to start organizing things, especially if you get something from a builder or are just building in a way that leaves you with hundreds of thousands of "Part"s in the workspace. I can definitely imagine using the plugin and from there further organizing.

One suggestion might be to make this compatible with materials - that way people can organize based on material, which could make sense in certain situations such as having parts made of Sand or Fabric.

Otherwise, awesome!
