ROBLOX immediately kills velocity when a part falls off of a moving object. Examples:
In real life there’s obviously air friction that will eventually stop you, but what’s happening in those gifs is not because of that. You’ll notice that the background objects don’t move at all when the character falls/jumps. ROBLOX just doesn’t preserve velocity when you jump off of a moving object and you stop moving and then gravity kicks in. Currently if I hit a bump and am forced off of the ground in the interior of that dropship, I get flung to the back because I instantly lose my forward momentum while the plane is still moving forward. In actual reality, if you jump in the interior of an aircraft/vehicle (negligible air friction) you wouldn’t be flung back – you’d stay in the same place. It would be wonderful if at least characters preserved velocity when disconnecting from a moving object. Use cases:
Jumping to another train car on a moving train
Not getting flung to the back of moving vehicles whenever you walk over a bump and become ungrounded
Realistic air drops from planes instead of just plopping straight downwards
Not getting flung to the back of a moving pirate ship when you accidentally fall off of a mast
Not getting flung upwards slightly by someone’s dead limbs and then falling off of the moving platform you were fighting on
In short, pretty much moving around with your character in any moving vehicle is taboo because one misstep and you’ll go flying. It’d be amazing if we had some sort of momentum conservation.
