Hello, there’s been this DevForum bug where your DevForum profile picture doesn’t automatically update. At least for me. I’ve had my current DevForum profile picture for 4 months now, and it wont update, my current avatar on Roblox is different. I’m not sure why this is happening.
Logging in/out resolved the issue for me.
You can try logging out and logging back in, then go to your profile and your pfp should change
Shouldn’t it automatic update tho? Needing to log in/out is quite annoying when it happens oftenly.
It does update automatically given enough time. It would be a waste of resources to instantly update with every tiny change. Most people’s avatars don’t change that frequently so it’s got a reasonably long cache time.
Edit: apparently it never updates if you stay logged in
I totally agree although having an automatic profile picture update every a certain period of time could solve this problem. Used to be like that some time ago.
Well it does do it auto, just takes like a few minutes to do it automatically. I actually just changed my avatar yesterday. I didn’t look at the devforum yesterday but its changed now. (Probably because I log in and out more frequently)
The DevForum system updates it, but It needs time , to send an request to the active server and then refresh it, Because you are not the only one who does it there are probably thousands of others that wan’t to refresh their profile picture. But in my opinion, I don’t give importance to the profile picture.
Discourse will pull the current username and profile picture whenever it refreshes your session with the SSO provider (in this case roblox.com) so it won’t automatically update over time. It only updates when it creates a new session or extends your session when it is expired (which you can trigger automatically by relogging). It has always been this way.
This is unlikely to change unless Discourse implements and provides a setting to automatically update the SSO-provided information. If you need to update your username or profile picture ASAP then you can simply relog and you’ll be set.
Nope. It doesn’t. I had to log out then log back in. I waited 7 months.
Unless you log in from another device.
I don’t think that that is necessary. Like BanTech says:
It costs 10 seconds of time to log out and then log in again, that is faster then when an automatic system does it.
I don’t have any problem with the fact that I have to log out and back in again when I changed my avatar.
