Proper support for the Linux platform

Does closed source in this case mean they have encrypted the files?
Or is it just the compiled program that they’re giving out?

Closed source means there is no public source code available
Unless its written in Java or C# there is no getting that code

Been using it recently and it is honestly a very good option, it just crashes an awful lot for me, but I guess that’s expected. :person_shrugging:

it is still in development, there are definitely still some issues that need to be resolved, namely crashing

i agree, i don’t like using windows and a native linux version will be very awesome for linux users!

i use vinegar for studio and sober for player, but im scared to think that one of methods might stop working (cuz its not official)

Studio should always be working, engineers have stated that they have no plans of ever implementing Hyperion into the Studio client.
Sober on the other hand, time will tell.

well, studio has always have been a survivor from what i’ve seen.

Roblox doesn’t hate Linux, in the past Vulnerabilities were intentionally left open that allowed Wine to work in the past, however those vulnerabilities ended up being abused. A developer at Roblox has stated Sober is not supported, but there are no direct plans to impede or mitigate it’s use, as long as it’s not used by bad actors. Basically meaning, don’t use it for bad, and they won’t block it, but they also do not ensure support, if something they do inadvertently breaks it.

I’m sure Linux support may come one day in the future, but until security can be ensured and there’s better crack down on exploits, and it’s worth a lot more to release on Linux, we aren’t going to see native support

a heads up for everyone, sober is confirmed to be malware so its probably best to not discuss or recommend it.

source, please?? you can’t just make claims like these without any sort of basis.

i’ve already sent it a bunch of times

lets just hope roblox makes a native linux version, which is prob only going to happen when the linux marketshare is atleast 10%

your proof is the project being closed source… that isn’t valid proof

they obsfucate strings and stuff

that is made to prevent people from knowing how it works, preventing people from making exploits for sober (because if that happens roblox might ban sober, just like what they did with wine)

this is also why its closed source
if sober goes open source, that makes it easier to exploit
if people exploit using sober, roblox will block it

You can still exploit on windows -_-. Maybe people just don’t want to use an operating system that spies on everything they do and spams them with ads? Just a consideration for your short sighted views.

a likely excuse lol. a little too convenient
