Proper support for the Linux platform

not an “excuse”, its a valid reason. also this is how they keep sober closed-source (also closed-source doesn’t automatically mean its malware)

go look at literally any website ever, of course the code is gonna be obfuscated that doesn’t automatically make it malware

the code is minified to save bandwidth. not obfuscated, big difference

this doesn’t even make any sense. its pretty clear that you’re a troll

Under that logic Windows is malware.
Its a lot of things but its not malware

the year 2025 (win 10 EoL), 2026 (win 10 extended support EoL)
could boost

i just hope that actually happens

how doesnt that make sense?

windows 10 is a commercial product competing with other operating systems for market share . makes sense for it to be closed source and obsfucated.

So its fine for a company known for being evil to not open source their project without it being considered malware but as soon as some rando who just wants to have their thing work for longer does its automatically bad? Be consistent.

a trusted company with government contracts, transparency reports etc etc, or some rando
not a hard choice

fine, let’s use a not-so-popular closed source app as a counterexample, since you’re so insistent
M.U.G.E.N (the fighting game engine, not the roblox one)

is it malware just because it’s closed source and free? no it isn’t
sure, it’s full of bugs and exploits (which many characters abuse), but so far, there are no malware detected. The community is thoughtful enough that unless you’re searching in very obscure places, malware characters (dragon-tiers) are not available to the public, and almost always either taken down when uploaded, or just not shared at all

elecbyte is not really well known outside of the community, so it’s a tad bit obscure
by your logic, this thing is malware, which it isn’t.

sober is literally just a way to play roblox on linux, not nearly as many weird vulnerabilities.

“oh but it’s closed source, i really don’t know who this creator is, and he hides some stuff, must be malware”
– basically what you said

by this logic, if i run my string through a hash function and give it a silly little salt before putting it into my script, then run it through the decoder in my script to get the actual string, whatever i make is a virus, cuz i’m not a well-established and well-known developer or whatever

Saying that it’s confirmed, but then not having any proof that can actually “confirm it” shows a lot.

What about linux mint? I have a feeling that’s what the majority of todays (and the near futures) windows ex-patriates are going to switch to.

support for linux would work fine almost everywhere if there was a flatpak

like previous person said, if it supports flatpak, it will work
most if not all linux oses so far support flatpak
that includes linux mint, and even the sillier operating systems like arch, btw

Also a company that gets a yearly lawsuit from said government. There are more than enough cases of open source software containing viruses. Open source is as good as closed source if you don’t read every line and build it yourself.

I am planning to attempt to move away from Windows (for several reasons) in a year, two, or maybe three at most as I want to switch to AMD. I am really disappointed that Roblox doesn’t provide any, not even minimum support for Linux. It’s really holding me back :frowning_with_open_mouth: I hope the situation changes in near future.

third party apps like vinegar or sober make roblox and roblox studio perfectly usable, but that doesn’t mean they are permanent viable solutions

what the guy above said
also, vinegar is for studio, it’s a tad bit buggy from my experience
as for sober, it works with little issues, but can crash out of nowhere (doesn’t happen often, but yk, gotta watch out for that)
