Why did it get reverted to the ugly 2015 style? The new one was so much better, modern and fit the current Roblox theme. It was one of the few reasons why I was still using the beta app. We need to go further, not backwards, Roblox.
Was really getting used to the new one and loved the clean modern looking UI. Mine too got reverted yesterday to the old one which doesn’t look that great to be honest. Revert it back to the new one, it’s MUCH BETTER!
Apologies for bumping, but today, the desktop app seems to be released now.
I don’t mean to sound petty, but I do not like the desktop app at all. The shortcut esc+l+enter now enters into to the app and I find that very inconvenient. If I use a mouse, I have to double click otherwise this will appear.
The create button just opens the create page in your browser, which kinda defeats the point of the app. This also applies to the privacy policy and TOS buttons as well.
This is moreso a nitpick but pretty much every button that isn’t the create button seems to open as if it were in a browser and looks out of place compared to the rest of the app.
The only good thing I can say is the previewing an accessory is a lot better than on the website, but for some reason my avatar is duplicated in r6 and r15,
I would like to note that the sorting option for only UGC or Roblox items seems missing along with the ability to view offsale items. Also, don’t make the sorting buttons scroll along with the accessories and clothes. Make them static.
All in all, my first impressions of this is that it’s just a straight rip of the mobile app, with half-baked options like create added so it could differentiate itself from the mobile app.
Guys, one great upside to the desktop app (and i think a by-product) is that you don’t need to use your browser, so scam links won’t work anymore, as long as you’re logged out of roblox website and not desktop app. I understand that a lot of the playerbase has trained themselves to not click on links but we’re still sometimes tempted to, accidentally do, or believe it.
It is given to only a specific amount of users on Roblox, if you are part of the users you will see a message on your Home page inviting you to use the app
I dont think so, I think the users are picked randomly. Some weeks ago I woke up, logged into Roblox and randomly got invited to it. So I guess all you can do is just wait until you are invited to it
Some impediments in the new App that I have encountered:
you can’t click on links in chats or text descriptions (such as matching clothing items that are part of a set)
you can’t highlight / copy text (in order to paste elsewhere) Are we expected to write the link down with a pencil and then type it into our browser?
you can’t switch to the app home screen without leaving the current game. players like to go to the web site and change outfits sometimes and reset to get the new outfit without leaving. You can still do this with the web browser(for now) but the new app doesn’t provide this functionality that I can see.
There isn’t a quick way to close the app(an X in the corner perhaps!), you have to pull up a menu to logout.
No scroll draggers on any screen on the new app. There are a lot of players that can’t scroll down to see games/content that don’t fit on the screen. (the players may not know how to ‘two finger’ drag on the touchpad to scroll, and they will be stuck without access to content)
