[PSGA] Updated REC Class Information

Hi PSGA. I’m writing this document to inform you that we will be canceling the previous Recreational Program, effective immediately. With our recent gain in members, we’ve realized how difficult it would be to continue with our current method of training new gymnasts. So, we’ve come up with a new way of doing so.

Outdated Method:

With our old program, if you wanted to become apart of the competitive team (Level 1-10), you would first have to attend no more than five recreational classes in order to be considered for the team. We wanted to make sure that the users on the team had some basic knowledge of virtual gymnastics, and since PSGA is very similar to real-life gymnastics, users would be learning about that as well.

Updated Method:

With this new method, we will be able to teach gymnastics the basics in just one short class. You will be further taught in practice once you are on the team. It’s very easy to pass this new class to be on the team, and very rarely will one not pass. To determine whether to put you on the team or not, we look for these criteria.

  • Attentiveness - How well you pay attention.
  • Understanding - how well you understand the instruction given.
  • Cooperativeness - how well you follow the instruction given.

If you are not accepted to the team, that means you may not have been listening very well or paying attention to the class. Otherwise, if you paid attention and followed the simple instructions given by your coach, you should pass easily!

If you are not accepted the first time, feel free to come back at any time. You will never be rejected a chance to try out for the team, no matter how many times you have before!

About the Classes

Usually, you will find that in order to become level 1 at any other gym, you will start off as a Novice and then have to pass a tryout. Well, for this class there will be no requirements or routines to learn.

Then what happens in this class?

In this class, REC gymnasts that want to go to level 1 will be taught the basic knowledge of gymnastics, which will be later taught more thoroughly once they’re invited to the team. It’s also a way for coaches to become familiar with the gymnasts and see if you’ll be a good asset to the competitive team. It’s a really fun and easy class to participate in and you’ll have such a wonderful time, you’ll forget it was a class and think it was a party!

Who can attend these classes?

Only Recreational Gymnasts can attend these classes. Once you are invited to the team, and if you accept, then your rank will be changed to “Level 1”.

When and where will the classes be hosted?

The classes will be hosted in the Practice Gym and we will try to host them daily, the times will vary.
