R6 Accessory Texture Compression

For a while, UGC Creators and experience developers have experienced one issue: Compression with accessory textures on R6, where the quality and detail that creators put into their accessories is significantly lost on a exceedingly long list of experiences that still use R6. There are ways around this with scripting, however they are relatively expensive and a process that shouldn’t even need to happen if this wasn’t an issue. For instance, The quality with all the accessories on this outfit are significantly diminished and blurry compared to it’s R15 counterpart.

Expected behavior

Accessory textures should look largely the same between both R15 and R6. The lowered quality is very jarring and can diminish the value and care people place into their outfits.

Yes, I am aware that R6 and R15 avatars handle accessory parts in different manners, but this potential conflict with legacy scripts that modify accessories for whatever reason could be solved by adding a flag under StarterPlayer or the newfound avatar tab for “legacy accessory loading”.

Salutations!

Thanks for reporting!
Unfortunately, this has been addressed before in a lot of topics.
That’s intended behaviour due to R6 and R15 having different resolutions to save on memory and help performance.
As mentioned here:

I’ll close this topic for now, but if there is another issue, please open a new topic for it to be reviewed.

Thanks for your patience and your understanding.
Have a nice day!
