We do not have a date yet. The single sign on is currently in development. We want to take time to get it right since this is the first time we’ve used ROBLOX credentials to log users into another site. Would suck if someone could spoof you, so it needs to be rock solid. It’s going to be 3-4 weeks at least, I would say.
Would it be optional? I’d rather be a bit more secure.
Nope. It’s all or nothing.
We are adding more ROBLOX account security features over the next 6 months.

So I assume the beta list is not being updated because this, it will use our roblox credentials, which means it will automatically do it?
Nope. It’s all or nothing.

Is it safe to say phone verification is coming for everyone within that time?
Nope. It’s all or nothing.

Hopefully it’ll be RFC6238 compliant rather than a proprietary system like Steam currently uses.

Not all things have to be RFC compliant. Not even most IRC services comply with the RFC; Freenode is a good example of an IRC service which doesn’t comply with the RFC.

I would mean that I could generate OTPs with Authy.

The main purpose of open standards is to make things interoperable. Freenode, like most networks, follows the IRC standards enough to work with most IRC clients, and most clients follow it enough to work with freenode and most other networks. As a result, we can use the IRC client of our choice to connect to the IRC network of our choice. If we consider the variety of clients the people on freenode use, I think we’ll agree it would be a very bad thing if there was only one client that worked with freenode, or if each client only worked with one IRC network…
triston220 wasn’t asking for perfect compliance, but rather for using a system defined by an open standard rather than a proprietary system. The point in this is that it gives more choice to users in the implementation they want to choose, because there can be more implementations of an open standard than of a proprietary system.
… It’s really hard to stay on topic…
Question: Are there PMs on Discourse? If so, is it actually possible to tell you have PMs when people send you them rather than noticing them weeks after?

As for the second half of your question - that would be pretty nice.

I JUST NOTICED THIS IS A PARODY OF BEN WYATT THIS IS AMAZING.
On topic: Will the new forum still be a “separate” site like it is now, or will there be some form of link between ROBLOX and the Dev forum? Maybe some sort of box on the home page at the bottom linking to it? I just figured that now with people being able to show their RBXDev posts to non-members soon, it’d be nice to have some sort of way for people to even find this place. Right now, you just have to know “developer.roblox.com” exists in order to find the site.
We’re aiming for doing the move during the week of Oct 12, tentatively.

I will let you all know for sure when the end date is for this forum, meaning when we’re going to not be able to migrate posts created after that date/time.
-
I can now confirm we selected the Discourse forum software for this community. You can read a comprehensive description of features offered there, as well as discuss the platform on this thread.
-
As a reminder, please make sure your RBXdev email address matches your ROBLOX account email address. It’s critical for syncing up your posts and you having access on the new forum when we move.
I’m happy it’s happening so soon! I’m eager to use the cool new stuff Discourse is going to bring to the table.
Now this is cool. I wonder what sort of cultural impact this will have on the site.
Whenever you say this I keep picturing “CyberHusky88@rbxdev.com” or something as our RBXdev emails.
I do have rbxdev.us , hmmmm, the possibilities…

I am not above buying URL’s for the sake of buying URL’s. But why that one in particular?

I bought it for the minecraft servers, and because it was $3 for a year.
