My Question: What inspired you to become a developer, and what is the key component that helped you to never give up despite the troubles your facing?

I also want to know this. I made a similar post about this, and I posted a similar design.

I have a question many developers have been wondering about for years.
Will genre filtering ever return? If not, what is the reasoning?

Nice, but my design is a lot different (kind of more simpler) and I never saw your post anyways

The general point is, we definitely need more customization options. I liked my idea of a tillable and customizable layout because we developers should be able to make our games page our own.

Do you think that ROBLOX will have a major website update?

Since Linux now has much better graphics drivers, universal package formats such as Flatpak, Snap and Appimage that are available on virtually every Linux distribution and support redistributing apps with all the needed libraries, as well as growing market share, do you think that Roblox being supported on Linux may be a possibility now?

I asked: “Will the web API rate limits ever be documented on the docs?”

I feel like these rate limits should be documented, because I really don’t want to run into undocumented rate limits while working on future projects. I’m still very new to development, and knowing the limits of how many requests I can do on a specific endpoint would be very useful to prevent my application from running into these constantly, and ultimately be blocked by Roblox.

For anyone else replying beyond this message remember that your questions are supposed to be put on the survey, and the survey can be filled out multiple times.

(Please don’t put your questions here as they are meant to be put on the survey, I mean at least if you want it most likely answered.)

will terrain go through a revamp eventually, in order to make it more realistic? will the size of terrain studs be decreased in order to make fine detail and features such as pebbles or complex rock features, as well as complex small scale erosion possible without the use of external softwares? will there be more realistic materials to replace the current ones (e.g. the rock material, which is currently just a bunch of triangles which don’t look realistic in the slightest).

I suggest reading one of these messages which can be found Here or Here. (otherwise your question probably won’t be answered)

They teased that they’ll be showing off a redesigned develop page at RDC 2020 called the “Creator Dashboard.”

My Concern About the Social Effects of a Broken Moderation System

The question I submitted is as follows (with some modifications):

I’ve been doing some research on Rōblox’s abysmally-structured moderation team. They have a track record of neglecting to reinstate accounts that were either cursorily terminated or banned temporarily. I had experienced first-hand a case of the latter - my account hadn’t been reinstated until after the ban elapsed.

From what information I was able to collect, I have concluded the following:

  • Some are employed at a temp agency in Southern California.
  • Others have been outsourced to India.
  • ALL moderators use Salesforce/ZenDesk to manage enquiries, as well as an in-house admin panel to manage accounts beyond even their owners’ control.
  • That they - and solely they - are responsible for the false termination of many accounts that did nothing to deserve them in the first place.
  • Though I am uncertain, I believe I had seen Rōblox discuss a comprehensive overhaul to the moderation system to be announced during RDC 2020.

I had been attempting to seek more information - or possibly an update on the matter. Despite having got in touch with tens of contacts on LinkedIn and on Twitter, I hadn’t received any medium of communication I could use to address the issue directly to the moderation teams.
If this question gets answered by the panel, hundreds of disgruntled developers may finally see a just moderation system in the near future that doesn’t create a fearful ecosystem in spite of the livelihoods of the nonzero developers whose livelihoods were greatly disturbed by the safety team’s lack of thoroughness.

A Nonexhaustive List of Persons Affected

The following people have had their livelihoods severely affected by the moderation team’s lack of action towards false positive cases; the list is short as I don’t have many names off the top of my head:

Decablox
Pewdiepie

@Intended_Pun You might find this useful. According to the article it’s in the works, however this was said back in 2016 on PS4 (in an official ROBLOX livestream).
With the release of PS5, who knows?

That’s a hella false statement. Just look at the last bigger banwave that happened. People went from “I GOT WRONGFULLY TERMINATED!!!” to “Yea I might’ve exploited on Adopt Me but I’m innocent!!!”. Saying that they’re solely responsible for something that is the play element is just being an ignorant at this point.

I agree. The moderators aren’t all bad at their jobs. Just because one was bribed, and the ban wave(s) doesn’t mean that they’re all terrible. Human error exists, and like you said some people went from ‘WRONGFULLY BANNED!’ to ‘I exploited a little but that’s ok! Get rid of my ban!’

Just seems like the moderators are critiqued by everyone in the community, and it isn’t fair on them. Most moderations are fair, anyways.

Okay, but on a side note I must agree the appeal system is pretty abysmal
