I missed RDC 2020, but I’m just wondering how it would work? Is it going to be in some applications like google meets, or things like that? I’m just asking this so I can understand how it would feel like.
Speaking with covid, we all have no idea whats gonna happen. I expect to be free of covid by late July (out of quarantine) in the US, and the UK seems to be doing good too. I won’t be surprised if RDC is virtual again though haha
Doesn’t seem like a bad idea. I’ll check it out!
I know the deadline was Tuesday, January 12th, 2021 but I would just like to know what can we present about if we would like to speak about a topic? Does it have to be related to some topic or can we speak about a topic that we wish to speak about (ex/ How to get started on ROBLOX Studio or How to start making money off of ROBLOX Studio. Also, do we have to be someone known in the community to speak?
I will most defiantly do it next year because this is a pretty cool thing that we can educate people on thing I am experienced in and I can bring more people into it.
RDC is for existing developers, with the new “Level Up” additions being targeted more widely, though still aimed at developers. A talk about getting started on Roblox Studio wouldn’t be very informative or helpful to the RDC crowd.
Try having a look at some previous talks from past RDCs. Things like programming-specific talks (e.g. procedural map generation), concepts like creating an economy within your game, marketing and promotion.
Just remember to ask yourself
- What you hope attendees will gain from your presentation
If you’ve not attended or watched online before, then it’s probably best to have at least one year as just an attendee (which you might have to anyway as the speaker deadline has passed) and then you’ll be a bit more informed of the attending crowd and the types of topics that could be beneficial.
