RDC25: What we announced

You’ve brought an incredible amount of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit to the platform and as a result, we’ve seen explosive growth and breakthrough hits. We recently surpassed a new milestone together, hitting 111.8 million daily active users, a 41% year-over-year increase1. This is a direct result of your hard work and dedication. At RDC25, we celebrated your achievements and unveiled a roadmap that promises to take Roblox, the most powerful and flexible platform for you to create on, to new heights.

Increased opportunities

The platform’s growth over the last year has translated directly into more opportunities for our creators. Over the past year, the creator community has collectively earned more than $1 billion2. We launched Creator Rewards earlier this summer, and we now have more creators earning for driving engagement than ever before. In fact, the number of creators earning at least 5+ robux increased by 171%, and 73% of the experiences eligible for engagement-based payouts (EBP) or Creator Rewards earned more with Creator Rewards they would have with EBP3.

Increasing DevEx Rate

Starting today, we’re increasing the DevEx rate from $.0035/R$ to $0.0038/R$, for all creators, meaning creators will now earn 8.5% more when turning earned Robux into cash subject to compliance with the terms of our Developer Exchange Program.

A Rock-Solid Platform

Our commitment to you is to provide a more stable, reliable, and high-performance platform while reducing your friction. This past year, we’ve focused on improving the core of the platform so you can focus on building. Some of the areas we’ve improved:

  • Stability and Reliability:

    • Improved stability on mobile devices, with a 66% increase in playtime per crash on iOS and a 26% improvement on Android since last September4.
    • Increased player availability uptime to 99.972%, saving more than 12 million engagement hours year over year5.
    • Improving Studio Hours per Failure by 90% to keep creators in flow with less interruptions6.
  • Performance:

    • Improved GPU processing times for meshes leading to significantly improved times between when meshes are downloaded from CDN and when they are visible to players.
    • Turned on our São Paulo data center, providing improved performance and reduced latency for millions of users in Brazil.
  • Reducing Friction:

    • Since January, we’ve closed more than >4,100 DevForum bugs, more than double the rate of last year7.

    • Improvements to our anti-cheat detection and integration with our automated consequences system have reduced the playtime exposure of cheating by 84%8.

Early Access to New Products

We highlighted a number of products at RDC. We’re also working hard to get those products into your hands faster for feedback. With that aim, we’re launching Early Access Programs! You now have the control to try out different experimental features and explore various Roblox builds. New products like SLIM and server authority will be available through our early access program.

A Safe and Civil Foundation

All of this is built on a foundation that promotes safety for everyone on Roblox. We’re constantly improving our moderation systems and policies. On Wednesday this week, we announced our plan to expand age estimation to all Roblox users who access our on-platform communication features by the end of this year. And this is just one of the initiatives that we’re supporting this year; since January 2025, we’ve shipped over 100 safety products, features, and policy updates combined.

We want to ensure we are continually getting feedback from you, and striking the right balance between keeping the community safe and imposing limitations that could unfairly take down a creator’s experience.

Today, we’re opening up applications for creators to participate in our Community Safety Council. We want to actively engage with trusted members of the community around their feedback and concerns so that we can incorporate learnings into our plans for the future. If you are interested in participating, you can see the eligibility requirements here. We’re committed to providing periodic updates on what we learn from the council and engaging with the broader community through activities like the Creator Roadmap and AMAs.

The Future We Build Together

We want to reiterate that the tools and features we’ve shared are the building blocks of the future, a future that you will create. We provide the platform, but you provide the passion, the creativity, and the vision. The future is something we’ll build together.

Please let us know your thoughts and we’ll be updating our Creator Roadmap shortly to reflect the updated roadmap.

These studio feature look, amazing. Can’t wait to play with them.

I am really looking forward to the animation graph tree editor and the server authoritative stuff.

Do wish we got better estimations for releases other than ‘coming soon’ but still excited.

does the 4k texture rendering also apply to materialvariants, and will the max upload size for them increase too? i’ve always been downloading/uploading only 1k due to the file size limit, so i’m wondering if this limit will now increase to allow for higher resolution textures and materials (not that i dislike 1k, they still look great especially with realistic lighting)

These honestly are crazy features that i didn’t really expect Roblox to announce or publish :fire:

Is this the previous survey from before, or a new one?
Also, does an official documentation exist yet? Or do we have to get the instructions from the Network team? (Will it also pop-up in early access features in settings?)

Awesome!! Can’t wait for each of them to roll out

A lot of cool updates, however, consider rolling bullet point 8. back and not supporting NSFW games.

Consider updating your moderation systems to prevent NSFW material leaking into the 5+ age category, before making such efforts towards 18+ experiences. Arguably, don’t support 18+ experiences in romance at all.

No manual collision boxes or modifying >:(

No shaders either! Really hope that’s added sometime. :L We had it with Roshade. For an update with 4K textures and Emission Maps, would really hope to see 4K clothing textures and shader support.

There’s a lot of complications with shaders so while admittedly annoyed, I understand why they are still in research, and unfortunately one of their directives is make once work everywhere.
