Hello everyone, showcasing the ability to read vertex points on beams but only to show & for feedback for applicable use-cases for ideas in the future. I’ve had the idea of using these for debug tooling, physics interactive beams.
This sort of tech is on the forefront of leading edge with the followings I’ve released: [Finding a point on a rope constraint, Tracking engine particles]
Here’s some videos below to showcase this, special thanks to Iris acting as the debugger that made the development faster. Overall this project wasn’t easy but I’m glad to say to everyone that It’s possible regardless how restrictive the engine may be at times.
Main video, green points indicate the segment vertex point on the beam, debugger panel on left. You can see that when we change anything about the beam property my algorithm figures out the vertex point precisely.
And last here’s another extra but we can also know the orientation at a given point on the beam allowing for things like this, not sure what to call it but when you twist a beam you can achieve a helix structure and I’m just moving a part whilst accounting for the twisting orientation on the beam.
