Recreating Sphere Texture

Hello! I’m relatively new to Blender and can admit I am VERY new to the Shading aspect of it! I’ve been wanting to recreate something that coincidentally comes in a spherical shape, so, all of those YouTube tutorials really come in handy!

Yet, I’ve been unable to find one that helps replicate the texture I’d like to achieve. This, is what I am aiming for:

And these, were my closest attempts:

Now, I like the turn out, but, I am aiming for that almost fractured ceramic/layered look, and can’t seem to nail it. The lighting is also tricky, but that is something I can tinker with on my own. I wanted to see if anyone might have the answer I am looking for?

P.S. - If you recognize the first two pictures, props to you!

I see you’re attempting to re-create the texture of one of those floating Spheres from the Warhammer 40k Astartes YouTube series. It has a really complex form as it is speculated to be a Xenos Artifact. Honestly, you’ve done a really good job to far. There’s not really many Earth materials that can reflect the texture of the thing but maybe a Turquoise Marble Texture will do. Also, you might be able to make a moving texture to reflect how the Orb is pulsating. I will provide some Topics that have lists of websites that you can get textures.

Yes, you are 100% correct. It’s almost like a grainy, non transparent marble. Turquoise, yes, that has to be it. I could also give it slight transparency and maybe add a dim light emission from the inside to create a two tone lighting effect. Thank you for the compliment, and yeah, it’s very hard to get this to match haha.

On a side note, the best description I’ve found of the sphere is that it’s similar to a liquid ceramic/metal with a fractured and dense layering to it

Also worth noting, this is intended as a personal build of mine. This is not for a commissioned job or anything like that
