Remove 30 Robux fee for uploading/updating animations

Why is it exactly do we have to pay robux to publish our animations? I find it absolutely ridiculous. The animation editor would appeal to so many more people if they didn’t have to pay a fee to upload AND update animations. I just can’t see a reason behind making us pay.

The only response I’ve gotten is
“The price is what ensures that they don’t have to be moderated”

The thing is models don’t get moderated. The logic I see behind it is that models are created inside of roblox and so no moderation action is taken unless the model is reported. Decals are moderated because they come from an outside source and even then they are still free and a ton are uploaded per day. Animations should receive the same treatment as models.

The main point is this: Models can be abused just as easily or worse than animations. So why is it that models are free to upload and update, yet animations are not?

Also let us sell animations/make them public please, pretty sure that was planned but never happened

That’s the main issue as to why a lot of people don’t really want to use ROBLOX animations.

They’re too restricted and if you don’t have a lot in your pocket - it’s quite a bit to fork out. Only you can use animations created by yourself.

I’ve been using welds 100% of the time in my places for animating, and I even have plenty of Robux to upload animations – I just don’t want to have to pay for something like animations. They’re not even reviewed, so I have no clue why it costs money to upload them.

Yes they aren’t reviewed.
Hardly someone sits there and builds a rig to suit the animation to review it.

It’s a ridiculous system and we need to voice our opinions against it to get change.

First objective would be to get this thread loads of responses.

Haha good one dude.

I swim in ROBUX and this still kinda bothers me.

Yeah, It’s really holding back the progress of animations. I’m sure there are a lot of people who would be really good animators with the animation tool, but they can’t even share or upload their creation at all without giving up robux which a lot of people simply can’t afford. If the price was removed and allowed us to share our animations, then roblox would flourish with useful animations that everyone could use thus increasing the quality of our games. I would love to see what everybody could do with such a tool.

It would be nice to see this thread get some traffic to hopefully get an admin response to this.

4/4 admins agree.

Moved to web because, bizarrely enough, this is a web feature (takin’ yo Robux is web).

Alright, thanks for moving it. I was conflicted on to either use web or studio since it has to do with a studio plugin.

So considering your previous post “4/4 admins agree” should we expect this change happening eventually?

I can’t promise anything, as usual, but it’s likely (eventually).

Can you just change the price to 0 in the program until you get through the corporate processes to remove the pay-to-upload code?

My friends who aren’t loaded love and hate the animation system.

 1. There’s a fee. Looking at the models uploaded, I highly doubt that animations take up more space than models. And models are free. Why aren’t animations?

 2. You have to PAY TO UPDATE? This is just garbage right here. Outrageous how it isn’t fixed. I feel bad for those who aren’t as fortunate as myself and can’t update their animations.

 3. It’s locked to your profile. My friend made a game on his alt because he wanted to make it a surprise. He got a surprise all right. Have fun remaking all the animations! He managed to import the animations into studio, then reupload to his main account. But that nice little 30R$ fee sure was fun!

I’m sorry to be so rude but seriously…this is probably my 3rd or 2nd favorite feature on ROBLOX and I hate how it gets treated. CodeWriter did an amazing job with this feature and the rest of the ROBLOX team is letting it go to waste.

Your feels are felt.

Does that mean anything?

It means I read what he wrote and felt it. I want you to feel heard.

I already said it’s likely that we’ll lower the cost of animations. I can’t say more than that right now.

Okay, it just sucks that even here there is a barrier between the HQ and the devs.

There are 2 prevalent issues right now. One is the cost, other is the fact that you can’t share. We are discussing how to do these both at the HQ.

 1. Use Merely’s 3D display system to show animations on the website.
 2. Allow us to sell and give out (free) access for using our animations.
 3. Allow us to customize our default animations.
 4. Profit???

(Didn’t y’all say that this was the future on some stream?)
