I can’t promise anything, as usual, but it’s likely (eventually).

Can you just change the price to 0 in the program until you get through the corporate processes to remove the pay-to-upload code?
My friends who aren’t loaded love and hate the animation system.
-
There’s a fee. Looking at the models uploaded, I highly doubt that animations take up more space than models. And models are free. Why aren’t animations?
-
You have to PAY TO UPDATE? This is just garbage right here. Outrageous how it isn’t fixed. I feel bad for those who aren’t as fortunate as myself and can’t update their animations.
-
It’s locked to your profile. My friend made a game on his alt because he wanted to make it a surprise. He got a surprise all right. Have fun remaking all the animations! He managed to import the animations into studio, then reupload to his main account. But that nice little 30R$ fee sure was fun!
I’m sorry to be so rude but seriously…this is probably my 3rd or 2nd favorite feature on ROBLOX and I hate how it gets treated. CodeWriter did an amazing job with this feature and the rest of the ROBLOX team is letting it go to waste.
Your feels are felt.
Does that mean anything?
It means I read what he wrote and felt it. I want you to feel heard.
I already said it’s likely that we’ll lower the cost of animations. I can’t say more than that right now.

Okay, it just sucks that even here there is a barrier between the HQ and the devs.
There are 2 prevalent issues right now. One is the cost, other is the fact that you can’t share. We are discussing how to do these both at the HQ.
- Use Merely’s 3D display system to show animations on the website.
- Allow us to sell and give out (free) access for using our animations.
- Allow us to customize our default animations.
- Profit???
(Didn’t y’all say that this was the future on some stream?)
Your own animations: Free
Making it public domain: 30 R$ fee
But maybe you don’t even need that, since lots of people won’t even bother making their animations public domain.
Man, finding this thread took me a LOT more time than what I would expect. In any case, good news, is in about 2 weeks
- Animations are added to the library. Which makes them searchable. Same as plugins and sounds.
- Animation upload/update costs exactly 0 robux. So it’s free.
- Animations can be marked free just like models.
Also @Nick, previewing animations is an entirely different beast. What we have for preview right now is just an OBJ loader/previewer. Not something that is rendering at real time. Big feature bro. Big feature.
Cheers.

You could pre-render the animation from 4 different directions and play them in gif/mp4 format on the website.

This is great news for me because over the course of the past 6 or so months, I’ve spent over 2,500 robux on animations alone, especially when I screw up and have to update them.
Can we possibly get refunds on animations we purchased? All of that is stored in our transaction history, so we have a clear-cut record of who purchased them.
I highly doubt refunds will be made. You knew that you would be charged before you bought them.

I use the animation editor for custom characters (knee/elbow joints and different part sizes). The character the animation is made for isn’t included with the animation, making it not possible to do it in first place (unless the website decides to make assumptions).
Anyway, good news, will save quite some robux in the end and of course, promote usage of animations.
Animation editor could really use some improvements, though.
This won’t work for all cases. Dennisvdz has explained why. We need to update the animation schema first before we think of anything like this.
And no, no refunds.
This won’t work for all cases. What about dennis who is making his own rig and making an animation. Do we apply all animations to the default body? Then the preview will look broken. We need to update the animation schema first before we think of anything like this.[/quote]
That’s true. My final comment would be just allowing animation view for animations created for normal humanoid just for easiness sake but if you guys are designing a system for viewing all types of animations in the future, it probably wouldn’t be worth doing the basic viewer.
