I made a post saying how the decision of removal of monthly events would ruin the player experience and suggested to add live ops rather than replace it.
BUT now the decision is even worse
Roblox, you can’t be serious about removing even seasonal events now…You are literally ruining a normal player experience and even developer experience at this point.
This Live Ops thingy is just…it can’t support the small devs a lot.
In general i wanna be honest,
This is by far one of the most terrible decisions you made, i am not being offensive but think it this way,
It now COMPLETELY removes all chances for normal nbc players to get items with fun
We developers are also fun seeking, we don’t spend our whole time in studio, we love egg hunts, we love hallows eve, we love these events.
This doesn’t help the small devs in many ways. The thing is you can only give away prices in your own game, no one would play a not so popular game just for a prize they can get in that specific game, especially if the game will only be FEATURED FOR A DAY.
Imagine Jailbreak and a small game which are in a live ops day event. You can only get prizes in the specific game and not from the catalog. PEOPLE WOULD OFC CHOOSE JAILBREAK, why??
Cuz it is more popular with stable player base and thus the player will love to show it off to a much larger playerbase.
Eventhough it is all about a player preference, as a player might not like jb and will play the smaller game for the event. BUT will it feel like an event? The small game will have a pretty small playerbase and thus having an exclusive thing in that game…
It doesn’t feel that good
Let’s not make assumptions over company policies we have no vision on, it’s not constructive and these decisions are much more complex than that for them to make. My posts were specifically explaining to someone why the community would get over it, please do not drag them into any other context than that.
You’re right about the “making assumptions” part.
I guess what I really am curious about is what they do use to justify making such a controversial move.
For example, Tix being removed is an example of something that made sense to remove. It came with reasonable justification of the deletion.
On the other hand, we have events being removed. We haven’t been given any reason why this is a good/needed decision, so Roblox leaves their players guessing, which is an awful move.
To be honest, when I went through my anti-Roblox stage, the (2017) Egg Hunt drew me in. It was a beautiful work of art and got me to appreciate Roblox again; it also got me interested in the development side even more.
Now, what if someone else is on the verge of quitting? What is going to bring them back in? A Jailbreak special rim Live-Ops event? I doubt that will draw them in; it would do more harm than good as they are probably bored to heck with the popular games. But these seasonal events breathed new life into Roblox: the 2017 Egg Hunt showed just how beautiful, stable, and performant a Roblox game could be. These events push developers to their max (without having to worry about expenses) and that’s a great thing. I’ve noticed that those who receive front page success with little challenge stop innovating which is not good. But these seasonal events pushed the limits of Roblox and everybody enjoyed them, not just developers with a keen eye.
This is another argument of why seasonal events should stay. Again, relating to my other argument, you guys have all the power and can basically do anything, but we, the community, beg you to rethink your decision. Yes, the events and their games take time and money to develop, but the result is spectacular and draws both new and old players in. Thank you.
This post is not meant to direct hate at the Jailbreak creators or anyone else for that matter. Thank you.
Well, glad to see you developers working together on this custom event. It felt almost like a real event. I hope to run a custom event with developers like you. Surely keeps me interested in playing other ROBLOX games. Keep it up!
Press F to pay respects. All memes aside tho, this actually is a very cool idea which will bring the community closer together. I do not agree with one thing tho - The removal of seasonal events. The recent seasonal events were very well developed and scripted and it would be a shame to just remove this feature from the platform. Many users probably log in to ROBLOX every holiday season just to play the new events.
First y’all just cancel the Christmas event without any warning and now you are just going to remove all the events in place for some “Live-Ops”? No thank you!
But, a good thing which might happen if this is added - People might start making their own “Egg Hunt’s”, “Holiday Magic’s” etc. which would be really cool to see and might actually increase activity in the community!
If the holiday/season events would not be removed I would be 100% in favor of this feature.
I feel like these new events will simply be used to rack up visits. The seasonal events were a nice tradition and they brought the community together, which I think the live ops probably wont do. Maybe I just have my nostalgia goggles on
I was fine with monthly events being removed but this is ridiculous I remember getting the audurite items in the summer event and that was a huge blast ! Please reconsider ROBLOX 96% of developers don’t want this
Egg hunts are super fun. They bring the community together, and show off a ton of devs great work. If you are going to add live-ops, it needs to be an addition and not removal. Monthly events going away is one thing, but seasonal events going away is another. I really enjoy egg hunts and I hope Roblox will still support them.
I mean, I always grinded these Roblox events. I swore myself to get every item, egg and everything else that comes with an event, or else. I definitely agree with you.
While I do like the idea of Live Ops, I agree with most in this post by saying that I do not support the removal of regular events. These always brought loads of players to whatever game was selected and were a blast for the community.
To be honest, I have a neutral stance on this change. Events are the things that might bring a long time player back to play, an example of that would be an egg hunt or an innovative event. The fact of Roblox developers getting better exposure in the public is a good idea, the problem with that is it shouldn’t replace normal events. Everyone knows, events give items(albeit, not many events give good items), some people will not like how in-game items would replace the free catalog items given to everyone. Because there’s so many games and developers on Roblox, the events would most likely be for games that the majority might not care about; We need normal events because it increases player counts and helps increase the amount of concurrent players on the website/in games. I’d rather have normal events that give catalog items instead of in-game items that someone might forget about ~a week later.
