Roblox 2019 Events Update

2019’s egg hunt will happen yes, however there won’t be a 2020 egg hunt nor anymore seasonal events in general.

Ah… That’s something else… I can live without monthly events, but seasonal events is another story.

Dumb and unthoughtful change that nobody ever wanted, please neglect to implement it.

Interesting approach to remove the events, I can understand that you want your community more developer driven, but…
Sneaking an edit in rather than announcing that seasonal events will be gone is quite surprising of you, Roblox. It’s almost that you guys tried to make it as transparent as possible so that people don’t see it or you don’t receive as much hate towards this decision. What did the edit end in? Even more hate for sneaking it in.
The amount of backlash I’ve seen on social media is quite crazy, removing seasonal events will really wreck a part of the community, as those are the favorite. Rethinking the choice and listening to the ‘‘player community’’ in this case (any of your social media posts from the very day that you made the edit) rather than just the ‘‘developer community’’ that is here. You’ll eventually find out that people want them back no matter what. I very highly doubt that Live Ops is even anything worthy to be compared to seasonal events, it’s nothing like seasonal events, it’s nothing that can fill the empty void of having no classic events, traditions that people have enjoyed throughout the years. I support both choices, but having live ops AND seasonal events, but no monthly events can be a perfect balance of supporting the developer community and providing the need of enjoying real events, with real catalog prizes that can be earned.

There’s almost 350 replies on this thread now. I am shocked and thoroughly appalled we haven’t heard anything back from anyone at Roblox yet. You said we’d get more transparency countless times before, can we not get some transparency now? This very clearly and desperately needs addressing.

Honestly, no one wants this update. Literally no one. Not a single soul. I can see how liveops is a good idea, but this shouldn’t replace events. Live-ops takes a bare minimum amount of effort to start and maintain. Live-ops itself has problems. Why should I apply if my game only appears for 24 hours? What do I earn?

Honestly, Roblox needs to look at the response. Almost all twitter replies are begging to revert events. Almost all replies are either questions or comments on how this is a terrible idea. People may (and probably will) quit playing because of this. Events were a coming together of the community, especially egg hunt. Tutorials for getting event items were opportunities for new Roblox content creators to get a possible audience. It helped people make new friends on the site. It was an opportunity for developers to grow their playerbase even further.

Roblox is probably not gonna listen or regret this, but I sure hope that the microscopic chance is the chance that comes into play. Why can’t liveops and events be side to side?

I don’t wanna come of as a jerk, but there’s no other way to get the point across.

Oh well, things are leaving. Please remember your playerbase isnt only developers and you have players to consider, otherwise this is kinda, not the smartest way to go about things.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard this excuse I would’ve earned 1.50 by now. All jokes aside, this isn’t going to happen since the players remain on this platform for a numerous of reasons.

Terrible for the community, yet neutral for the company. They’re cutting out unnecessary expenses for whatever excuses or reasons they’ve got behind this decision.

alright, but can there at least be an event icon for developer run events on the events tab? it makes developer events aesthetically similar to roblox events

I can participate with any of my games?

Would there be any chance that egg hunts would be an exception to this? It seems rather disappointing that Roblox would end the egg hunt saga on a repeat of 2015.

I don’t think so. It is more of a game of the day kind of thing. So they would probably have it on the front page and remove the events tab due to the removal of events (if I am not mistaken).

I wouldn’t say that it is the only reason (regarding collecting eggs for their avatar) . The Egg Hunt; which as it name suggests, is an Egg Hunt. It’s a, or atleast meant to be a fun activity for the community. I personally don’t play seasonal events just to collect stuff, I’m in it for the activity itself. Over the past few years, yeah; I do agree that the quality has a dropped by a tad and especially after I noticed that Christmas events suddenly disappeared. ROBLOX seemed a little bit, bland you could say. Seasonal events were one of the things that I loved, and with it gone and being replaced with live-ops, I’d say that I’m both disappointed and saddened.

I also believe that I’m not the only one who doesn’t play these events for the collectibles. I’d also hate to play a bunch of simulators and tycoons just to get some hats aswell.

That’s what I’ve been thinking all the time when I first found out what template the 2019 egg hunt will be.

Why would anyone create an egg hunt that mimics one previously what failed spectacularly?

ROBLOX learnt absolutely nothing from that dreadful 2015 egg hunt.

As silly as this is going to sound. What if the Developers could meet requirements to be eligible to have at least 1 catalog prize for their game?

For example: They must be able to create the catalog prize themselves. It must be approved by a staff member. They must be able to pay roblox to put it on the catalog Hopefully not a absurd amount. And it can only sit in their game for a week or less before they must remove it entirely.
Developers then may create their objectives, it must not be too easy but it cannot be too hard/impossible either. It cannot also take too long to get but it also cannot be obtained within a short time frame.

I can’t really think of much else to add to this. But i’m sure this would make up for losing Seasonal and Monthly events. But once again as silly as this sounds, I want to see what others think of this.

I see how live-ops could help developers, but why remove the normal monthly events. Why not keep both. You could also have live-ops have their own prizes. (Ex. If you play 20 live-op games you get a hat) The only thing going I see as a problem is people won’t want to check out live-op games, especially if they are refreshed every day.

I hope so. I really am losing interests in even trying to be a big developer knowing nobody can be part of such a big project where we can always see many players enjoying our games, playing them for awesome event prizes and being proud of it. What about the Bloxys? Will the Bloxys be cancelled? They are like a ROBLOX tradition and were annual excitement for the ROBLOX community. Knowing this year’s Bloxys were good and I think they should go on.

No, it isn’t silly. I see what you are talking about. About developers possibly having an opportunity to have a catalog prize in their game temporarily. I very much like the idea. I think it would make things a lot better for the developers. Adds more fun to their games! But seasonal events should stay. They are sentimental to many people and were always a fun experience. I mean, setting up events like these take a lot of time and effort but taking away these events are just really not cool… not cool at all. And I wish there was a way we could just have these events back but it is far out of my power.

Well, I mean, yeah you can. Yes, you can participate with your game(s).
