Seeing that roblox has not responded, I think that they’re going to go through with this. (They also already have the sign up) Time will tell wether or not this will be a good thing. Hopefully the statistics will tell the story of if it was effective or not. I am hoping that they will track how many people click on the live-ops links, and if not many people use the live-ops maybe they will revert the events.
There was no mention of seasonal events being stopped
This is what LuckyTux is referring to.
The egg hunt is not a normal monthly event.
Seasonal events got added to the post after it was up for about a week.
Unfortunately so. It was a surprise but this hits me with surprise but mostly anger towards ROBLOX for not making it clear to us about seasonal events as an additional removal. I feel this is completely unacceptable.
Yeah I think a lot of people in the threads major problem is more that the seasonal events were put into the post quietly after a week of being like “okay this is the update at least seasonal weren’t mentioned so they’re safe”, and people stopped looking at the thread since they’d already read and discussed it.
Really not digging the lack of transparency there or how that was done, it’s starting to hit a disrespectful cusp. When multiple people on this forum are in the thread saying “roblox is just gonna do it anyway”/“‘roblox’s mindset is "they’ll get over it’”, and a major majority of users are voting “i don’t like this” on the poll, there’s an issue.
110% agree. Roblox has had issues with transparency for ages, and it’s not been solved. There have been some steps in the right direction, and I was getting optimistic, but this entire announcement is a big reality check that shows just how little things have really changed.
There needs to be a much bigger and less half-hearted push for transparency at Roblox, especially on controversial decisions like this one. Otherwise, developers and players alike will get fed up and leave. I think I speak for all of us when I say the most awful thing about this update is the complete lack of community input and staff response.
Oh whoops. My bad. Didn’t notice that.
For everyone else, he was talking about how he supported the idea of Live-Ops but not the removal of normal events.
Another standard sentiment.
Google Translate, since I can’t be bothered to translate word by word:
“I support the part of daily events for the reason that there are games that deserve more attention. The only thing I do not like is that in a daily event you will not live that feeling of how the new event will be since these will be quick and only last 24 hours.“
My one issue is I feel “They don’t care about our opinions, they’d do it anyway.” My personal feeling for almost every update they do.
It gives me the kind of anger to the staff who did this thread. Just them. I find it an insult to think they could quietly add something like that. Pretty much said, if they don’t care about the opinions we as a community have, they can’t get very far. Yet again, this is a platform for people to play games others have made, without feeling that they matter here only encourages them to leave. Don’t get me wrong, I love ROBLOX, it is the best platform I worked on, I support it and I would keep on supporting it all I can. But it is hard to when this is what happens. Doesn’t feel right to be treated as a minor, even if the large majority of the community agrees with me.
This. This a million times.
Yeah. I’ve been getting my doubts over the years whether this platform is worth developing on any more. It’s only two selling points are networking and audience. Outside of those it just doesn’t stack up to the competition. So I expect good developer relations to compensate for it - and this just isn’t good enough.
If this keeps up, I bet they can expect a mass exodus to Unity.
As I put it:
I suppose. To be honest, I cannot say as much as to how much I hate the removal of the events. I just want to know if there is a sensible and reasonable reason to do so.
I don’t see events being a dis-advantage for games… unless… game players leave for a bit to play the event games. But the events keep peoples’ interests to ROBLOX. Promoting games with events is good enough. You are basically going 1 step forward, 2 steps down. I don’t like it. I only want the best for ROBLOX. Of course, people would say “Nobody really cares if you leave ROBLOX”. Well… people may not care but at the end, if this continues, more and more people will leave because they just know the olden times were so much better, those events are too far away and out of reach. These events are worth keeping as for the fun of players and promotions of many event games. I encourage who-ever wrote this thread to take into consideration what the community thinks of this
I kinda woke up early in the morning when I first saw this post posted, I thought it was April Fools but uh… It wasn’t. I can’t concentrate in the morning but I kinda wished this was an April Fools joke… it wasn’t.
I think the most important reason is to promote games that deserve it.
Keep in mind, players are what make us successful. Sure, skill can help us make a game but who will play it? The players! That is why events are important. They are good for the developers and players. I know this change was to try to benefit the developers but please consider the players.
I really wish that roblox would come out and just say their reason to remove events entirely. I am making a list of the reasons here and my opinions on them, if you guys can come out with any more that would be interesting.

Monthly/Seasonal Events will hurt Live-Ops I found this to be the most convincing argument, and it makes the most sense. However, Monthly and Seasonal events are looked forward to by the players and developers alike, removing them would hurt the community.

Monthly/Seasonal Events don’t bring a profit to roblox This is a gready one, by removing the events, players who want to look different are forced to buy robux for avatar gear. I mean really, I think this will ruin a lot of players who are really free to play, due to their situations not being able to buy robux

It is not worth hosting Monthly/Seasonal Events It might just be too much work to host huge events and continuing. This might tie into that some players will play for the events and leave. While this is important, the events do bring players and make them more likely to stay and buy products in the future.

Live-Ops will be an automated system This one goes out of the box, but ties into number 3. Roblox could find a way to automate the live-ops, this would also reduce the amount of work for them.
Those are just some ideas since roblox has still not responded, tell me what you think about them!
They already have applications, so your probably right on that.
Well now it’s waiting to see how it is. Maybe it happens like the Rthro bodies of Roblox that at first were hated and now they are quite sought after.
