A lot of players go on the monthly events games just for the hats because that’s the main incentive.
I feel without this encouragement they just won’t bother visiting the games. For me, unless I like and am interested in a game, I will play, especially if there are updates to it now and again. But if it’s a game I am uninterested in, I wouldn’t unless there was an incentive for me to come and check it out.
Personally, I think the original event calendar that was going to happen, with the recent Pizza Party as an example, was a good step in getting a range of game types and developers, especially smaller ones, involved with monthly events by giving them a theme to work with. It seems like live-ops is catered more towards larger games than smaller games & showcases.
(Even without catalog items, I think monthly events still could’ve worked if the Roblox badge system was upgraded and utilised well)
I hope seasonal events don’t follow the same path as the monthly events because to me (with the previous ones like the egg hunt) they always gave users something unique that told a story and got the community involved. It would be a shame to see these go.
I seriously wonder if sometimes Roblox stops and thinks about some of the things they do. F2P players will now have almost no way to get any items, and they won’t want to play new games without incentive to do so. (I know I wouldn’t) #BaconLivesMatter
Tix Removed 2: The Sequel Nobody Wanted
What events do you mean by “Monthly events”, are sale events like Black Friday or President’s day being replaced too? What about the egg hunt, it’s about to start and it gets removed?
Because small developers don’t have a way to get spotlight from ROBLOX due to the featured tab’s new criteria of top 250 games only. This will benefit people with small income or no income to get a community and eventually be able to advertise on their own
My only reaction when reading through the replies on this post is I wonder when they’re going to add the events back because if they don’t things aren’t going to be good in my opinion.
Let’s be honest, they’re going to pick popular games. I mean, obviously, why would they choose a smaller creator when there are already established creators (some of which I really enjoy, don’t get me wrong) who have a higher chance of succeeding?
If there’s any sort of voting system, it is obvious that popular games will win. If there’s not, and it’s up to admins, popular games will win, unless said unpopular dev has connections. That’s just how it goes in any platform.
This 100%. I feel like the attitude of ‘they’ll get over it’ has been applied way too many times, and it’s sad that it works.
Just to make it overly obvious, but I’m not a staff member and that post is not an explanation of how Roblox feels. It’s my personal explanation to another post that claims it’ll be the worst thing ever.
I like the idea of giving smaller games more opportunities to get popular. I still think seasonal events should stay as that is the uniqueness of Roblox that I like. These seasonal events bring together the whole community, devs and staff alike. However I can see why the monthly events are being removed, as no offence but these monthly events are slowly getting worse and less popular. Before this feature is released it would be nice to see some other ways to get free avatar items for free to play players. A large percentage of people don’t want to buy robux to get items for their avatars. When you are a new person to roblox customising your avatar is always a fun thing to do and now it is going to become hard to do because free to play players will have almost no way to get free items.
As a lot of people are saying on this thread, featuring your game for one day isn’t long enough and I agree. Having the rotation change each day will take the showcase element away in my opinion. Players wont check out the live ops page out everyday and eventually players wont even bother looking at it, as they will have no incentive to do so. They will just think it is a new games sort page that has less game on it. Having a new rotation of games shown each day will have a total of 3650 games a year. That is a huge amount of game, this will definitely take the showcase element away.
I do think there should be a weekly cycle of games rather than a daily cycle. Doing a weekly cycle will make showcasing your game more of a special event that players recognise. Weekly cycles will also give players time to check out the dev ops page and acknowledge it more.
I do feel there should be some rules about what games are featured. I feel out of the 10 games featured at least 5 of them should be smaller games that need a little push or brand new games. Doing this will make this feature fair for almost every developer rather than just a feature for the big and successful games/developers.
These community driven events cannot affect monthly Roblox events since it’s the developer’s work, Roblox’s mission is just to feature the developer’s game. SO, why removing monthly events??? It is just like you are trying to get rid of monthly events somehow (no offense).
I honestly like this, this can be good for developers who have in-game events. Sometimes people get confused if that game is a Roblox event game or just a in-game event. I believe removing monthly events can have lots of negative feedback, but I will miss the events such as the egg hunt events, Halloween and Christmas events. (unsure if these will come back)
Some feedback from me is having a game featured for at least a week then a day, some players are not online for a day or a few more days, letting a game be featured for a week would bring more players from my eyes. I honestly think after Live-Ops have been a thing for a few months players might not care much because the rewards might not mean much to them, because free items you can wear on you’re avatar is a big yes from players, if it’s free and you can wear it they would of course say a big yes. Other then that, I think Live-Ops is pretty good for developers. Monthly events will be missed.
This isn’t it chief. Other posts here pretty much say everything I have to say, the fact that this is replacing events is terrible. It’s probably a smart move to reconsider this.
edit: Someone should put this to a poll, so I’ll do it:
I like/agree with/support this change
I don’t like/disagree with/do not support this change
