Well this would feel like egg hunt wouldn’t be an huge game with loads of universes but an small lobby and then games with the eggs. If that’s the case I think it would ruwen the experience but with halloween Christmas ect it would be an great idea.
Keep in mind that their intention was to make the game a devhunt. Giving some way for games to actually part in the event. So far, the egg hunt only had 1 team and pretty much 1 huge game. Imagine how low of a chance each team has to part in this kind of event. However, with a devhunt for egg hunt, this gives plenty of games a chance to be promoted (especially when the event games range from 40 to 50 games). I think having a devhunt is something that really could promote some games and increase publicity.
So now the objects that are won are in the games? For example, if it is a jailbreak event, do you earn money in jailbreak? Or is it always an object for your avatar? I do not know, I’m a little confused, Someone who can answer me please
That’s true but what I said it would kinda ruwen the experience of egg hunt. It’s much more fun wondering around and doing simple quests to get eggs that to play a game to earn 1 egg and then go to an different game and repeat it. But with the Christmas events or the halloween one would be a good opportunity for developers to participate. Just hoping roblox isn’t planning to do events like egg hunt like that
Not exactly nothing.
The short-and-skinny is games can request to be promoted for their impactful content updates (events, new themed content additions, etc) however monthly events are being cancelled.
Where-as I very much like promoted games that are updating it’s kinda sensitive to me. I agree with a lot of people who worry that already highly exposed games will make the majority of what we see here. The limitations in place likely will prevent it, but honestly I don’t know why I’ll need to ever see a top trending game show up in another place. As far as promoting goes, I honestly think this implementation is solid, though a 24 hour promotion time-frame may be a bit small to me.
The big issue I have here is the cancellation of monthly events which provided free items. Free users don’t provide direct profit, and I get that, but they do drive communities. I loved developing on Roblox around 2010 because I could foster a community for an experience, not because I could make profit. Catering to those experiences by allowing users the ability to obtain items is important to me.
Yes, it will only give you objects of a specific game.
This is a terrible move for the platform for many reasons
-
This is the exact same thing as the featured sort
-
Free players will only be able to use the small amount of free items available plus the free Rthro packages.
-
Players will lose interest participating in these events if they only get one in-game prize for each game.
-
This is entirely different than the event format we have now. They shouldn’t replace the monthly events as Alexander_Ashford said.
Because instead of removing the events, we leave the events and put the Live-Ops and leave the Live-Ops and the events together?
In game prizes are entirely up to the developers. They can decide what the prizes are. However, there will be no catalog prizes. This is just a custom ran event.
Well, I guess it does depend on preference. I guess you do make your point by saying that. I mean, I guess it doesn’t really sound so fun going to one game for one egg.
I like to do the events to get the prizes and to have a good time.
I do not want the events to be removed because if not many people who play without paying, they will not be able to enjoy having a more original avatar.
Hoorah, I’m excited about this change! I’ve noticed the community always complained about new events on Roblox, so I hope this will satisfy players more and give smaller devs a bigger voice
Should be noted that LiveOps featured spots aren’t once per game, but once per month per game.
Either way, having featured games every day will spread player attention too thin. This problem will only be exacerbated if developers are incentivized to offer personal rewards instead of major content updates for a VERY small promotion period.
It’d be ashame to see the holiday events removed if that’s part of the plan. When I was younger, I remember playing them and having a lot of fun. These holiday events are unique in the gaming community compared to other platforms and it would be ashame to see other kids not have the same chance to make happy memories with their friends when playing events like the Egg Hunts.
I do not like this update and would not like monthly events to be removed. Mainly because the prizes will be limited to being in-game and not virtual items that everyone can use on-site such as accessories, or gears that can be used in games that allow them.
A large number of people participate in events only to collect the prizes. Moreover, it encourages the average user to create a plethora of outfits with such free prizes.
The events were never really that fun. They were usually just “ugh, I’ll play it for the hat I guess” for most players.
The only way for this to work is if monthly events are kept. Nobody, and I mean nobody (except people that like the game) will play a game for some small in game prize. What about the egg hunt? Hallows eve? All of the fun events? Events bring players together with a goal of getting a prize. Without a good prize; Nobody will play for it.
Analysis of the Concept
Pros:
- Allows better integration with the games
- Potential growth for fanbases
- Boosts enthusiasm
- Developers gain a boost from these events
- Increased feedback rate
- Also supports continual growth of the games
- Equal relevance of each game – inclusiveness for small games
- Reduced rates of catalog items; room for more and unique items
- Possible quality improvements
Cons:
- Slow momentum for immense experiences
- Decreased threshold; numbers of players participating
- Lowered anticipation
- Less unique appearances between free-to-play, average users – this is straight opposite of powering imagination
- Exceptions to games with character customizations
- Free rewards will be history – except to larger events
Is this a give and take? Are we even valuing if this is better over the other or the other way?
If your game have rare or limited objects, you could utilize this to attract more players to the game… but it might not be as valued as standard Roblox events. Question should be if this ideal can cause critical feedbacks?
More Developers?
But if we look back on previous DevForum update, is Roblox encouraging more developers?
Literally “For developers, by developers.”.
Conclusion
In my opinion, this update is a confusion whether it is a benefit or drawback on behalf of the community. It has a mix of advantages and disadvantages, which I cannot appraise apart.
Traditional or progressive? It feels like they are in favour of progressions, with fractions of traditions.
Disclaimer: At the time of writing, no deep effort were set in completely. No direct criticism at Roblox, only the idea.
It is an update to how the events may work. Possibly to try and promote more ROBLOX games. However, removing ROBLOX events.
I really don’t know how to feel about this change.
While it is good that Roblox is trying to promote developers, I just don’t see why we need to remove the monthly events. While not everyone is a fan of them, to many some of their fondest memories on Roblox was these events. Not only that, but it allowed players the opportunity for players to customize their avatar more without spending Robux, which helped games in these events get more promotion. I just dont see how this new feature is better than events, as there isn’t as much incentive to play the featured games when not much is given as a reward. I honestly think it would have been a better idea to have this change just be an addition to the platform instead of a replacement for events.
In the end, I’ll try to be optimistic and give this change a chance, but I just really can’t lose the idea that were probably better options than this.
