I believe that ROBLOX’s decision to bring voice chat to the platform will take them to the next level. There was a huge issue when it came to communicating with other users, and bringing voice chat as well as restricting it to only 13+ users will be really great. However there might be a problem with this, as users might lie about their age. I do, however, have some questions:
Will there be some sort of age verification system?
By that logic, the chat in Roblox shouldn’t exist either.
There will always be ways to bypass it, and that will never be fixable but removing the feature entirely because of a handful of people on the platform is a little overboard.
That would be the point in having QA Testers, so the fact that so many bugs persist after release despite the group having 202 QA Testers total is a bit irritating.
This one is super amazing update, I can finally communicate with my friend on roblox but one question though. Is talking on different language allowed with friends?
I feel like the negative opinions towards voice chat aren’t fully based on moderation alone. These kind of changes are altering the game to an extent we cannot ignore anymore, I wouldn’t call voice chat a bad update or anything. This whole “metaverse” thing they’ve started pushing over the past year or so just feels like it isn’t changing the game in a good way. It’s hard to elaborate fully, just feels like things they do are just solely developer-focused now, and if they’re not, they’re targeted at new players, though it’s felt like this for at least half a decade now. A lot of people I imagine would just like to play the game they grew up on, including myself. Though I won’t be using it, it seems like an alright feature for players that want to, but I hope that it doesn’t begin to dominate the playerbase.
Spatial Voice (Beta) - We are inviting select developers to preview the upcoming Spatial Voice feature within the Roblox Community Space. You’ll get a Private Message from Roblox later today if you are invited , and we’ll gradually invite more developers in the coming months. Our goal is to let all interested developers test Spatial Voice while it is in Beta.
There’s no plausible way that this is going to go pleasantly nor smoothly when it rolls out for everyone.
Every thing seems very cool. Neat way to test it out. Only gripe I have is spatial voice chat.
I know recently that there was a requirement to have an ID and to verify through a third-party vendor. Is this still the case? Every announcement I’ve seen or read so far jumps around this.
Secondly, I too am wondering how this is moderated. Will my voice be recorded and reviewed by a moderate or will it be purely voice-to-text transcripts?
If a staff member or whatnot can clear this up, that would be nice. I am 18+ so, this kinda affects me the most.
I personally like the idea of voice chat being 16+ Only which is something I’ve seen floating around, Sounds difficult to enforce though considering people can just set their DOB.
Voice chat would be pretty cool to mess around with, dont know if it would be too useful for my game other than trading but I hope that a large majority of people are able to make friends using this feature, sucks having to stay at home all the time
I just realized that voice chat might be used as an incentive to get Premium. That would be a very well thought out market strategy that not only brings in money but would also make moderation easier if you put a paywall that prevents bot accounts and spam from speaking.
^ Actually a fantastic idea, please make voice chat a Premium only feature. Roblox got rid of most of the special to Premium features when they swapped from builders club, this would be a great way to stop bots. Of course, bots can still buy premium but it helps a ton!
