Yep, plus it’s just the concept of a built in Roblox voice chat that’s surreal to me and why I’m curious to try it out.

I really hope myself and a few others get invited to this program. My group leader, Lord_Spookerz ( or leader of the group Gear Studio[tm] ), was within the 5k initial people invited due to a game we made last year hitting Top Rated and getting a large amount of visits.

It was a bit of a bummer to find out that despite fulfilling the requirements to enter that some of us were not able to be invited, possibly because of us not being the group owner and more-than-likely due to the small amount of available slots.

I do really hope we get to be part of the next wave of invited people as I for one could really use the chance to learn how the Spatial Voice system works for future implementation in games, especially knowing that there will be a system for setting regions in games for using it.

Why does this have to be spatial, can we have our own API to manage how we want this to work?

Seems to be in the coming months.

I really do hope this is not restricted to 18+, I, a non 18 year old developer, love playing games such as Hell Let Loose and many more milisims that use vocal communications, but if you restrict it to 18+, your really just restricting the voice chat element to 10% of the userbase. If you ask me, large waste of the feature.

The good news is that it’s going to be 13+, as confirmed by Roblox many times during interviews and the fact that beta testers are 13+.

The 18+ rumors were never true; they originated from leftover source code and many YouTubers believed in it and said it was going to be like that in the final state of voice chat, which then started that whole nonsense. Roblox will never restrict a feature to such a small demographic of their audience, and they will also never require you to visit an off-site link (let alone scan a picture of your ID) just to use a basic multiplayer feature.

What do you mean by developers, small devs, big devs or anyone on devforum ?

I happen to have a few bugs to report for the Roblox Community Space. I’ve been told I’m only experiencing this, and I have yet to see if it happens in any other game, but these are pretty prominent for me.

  • Chat is completely broken for me: The ‘Say Something…’ text box is on the screen, and I am able to type, but it won’t send, I can’t see anything players are typing, and they can’t see what I type. Furthermore, this also breaks the mini-games in the RCS since those are chat-based.

Edit: This wasn’t even a bug, just my own slip-up. Apparently I had unknowingly set my contact settings to ‘Off’ in my privacy settings while enabling voice communication.

Hopefully this was a sufficient amount of information. If I’m missing anything that should be reported, do tell.

Can you specify what the issue is? I don’t see anything wrong with the microphone icon shown in the video. If you’re talking about how the microphone is repeatedly turning green, I believe that would be because you’re talking. Even if you’re not talking, it might be picking up background noise if the microphone is on.

It’s intended. It’s supposed to show your mic levels as you talk.

The video doesn’t show the issue very well because the software can’t capture my voice (not to mention the fps is lower), but please take my word for it. The levels that the icon shows doesn’t relate to my actual speaking volume. It doesn’t matter how loud I am as long as I’m talking, and in the video, I’m talking as normally as possible, and yet the level icon doesn’t reflect that. I’ll see if I can replace the video with one that better shows the issue I’m facing.

How do you opt in for the Spatial Voice Beta feature? I’d like to be opted in for testing.

You dont opt in at the moment.

Like @justice_romqxn said, you cannot opt into Spatial Voice; you must be invited. Only 5000 developers were invited and they’re going to invite more soon.

Im looking forward to see how this works out, i would like to test it myself but only time will tell.

Could u possibly record your display off your phone camera to display the issue better perhaps? that video isn’t doing it justice. Could be your mics sensitivity if its picking up inaccurate levels.

The matchmaking system in the experience for this needs some adjusting. I’ve tried joining my friends 10+ times, and every single time it moves me to a different server, making it impossible to join my friends.

I was thinking that that was the case until I realized that the glitch was occurring when other players were speaking. My bad for not mentioning that pretty important aspect.

On the other note, I was planning to do that, but then I was unexpectedly teleported to a new server (I’ve seen it happen to other players, possibly as a result of lag, but that’s just my guess) and the game could no longer detect my microphone. I’ve already restarted my computer several times, but it’s still not working well, and changing any of my settings doesn’t help. I’ll try to describe it a little better though: If I’m not talking, then the microphone icon appears grayed out. But if I make any sort of noise whatsoever, the icon randomly changes levels, regardless of my volume. Sorry that I can’t get a better video, that’s as good as I can describe it at the moment.

Sounds like you were teleported to one of the servers that users without the beta feature get sent to.
