Roblox Force Launches in VR... Again

This seems like the 10th time this has happened, I remember having to leave my VR setup disconnected from my PC for months because every update a flag would be flipped again that would force Roblox to launch Steam VR regardless of the user’s VR setting. And well, it’s doing it again.

After today’s update, Roblox now forces Steam VR to launch and closing VR forces Roblox to close as well.

Only workaround is disconnecting all my VR equipment before launching Roblox or Roblox Studio.

Guys, can we please just fix this issue permanently?

I sent a bug report noting this as well. Hopefully they fix it sooner than 2-3 weeks like before.

Yup. Can confirm. Very irritating bug - I have high hopes it will be fixed soon ^.^

This happens to me too along with several more issues related to VR. Haptic feedback no longer works, controller models are permanently visible, and controllers are offset. Some players are also reporting that input doesn’t work at all. I had to close my game because it’s unplayable now.

It seems to be launching in steamvr even though I’m using oculus also. I guess this update really bugged out vr

Seems to be fixed for me! Hopefully not just luck

I have had the complete opposite happen to me for Roblox Studio. It always fails to even load into VR!

This was fixed for a week, but is now happening again as of today.

Just bumping this post again. It was fixed on Friday last week, and now after today’s update it’s doing it once again…

Found a fix for this. If you want to toggle VR, put on your headset and navigate to settings (the same place you change your graphics quality) and toggle the VR mode. If you can’t access this, you can navigate to /AppData/Local/Roblox and access the file “GlobalBasicSettings_13.xml” or “GlobalBasicSettings_13_Studio” for roblox and roblox studio respectively. Set the value for “VREnabled” to false and reopen the application. While the issue of VR mode being set to true by default is still a problem, its effects can be mitigated by the steps above.

Edit, this fix does not work. See my current fix here: Roblox Force Launches in VR... Again - #29 by Ophidie

This doesn’t fix it. Even with VR turned off, steam VR still force launches automatically. The game won’t be in VR mode, but it’s still linked to SteamVR until you unplug your VR equipment

That’s weird, once I disabled VR mode via the settings, SteamVR didn’t launch upon opening a game.

Bug is still occurring for me. I setup vr every night - so having to unplug it to develop is annoying, and I don’t like wearing out the connectors. Hopefully it’s fixed soon

Crazy right, almost like VR mode was enabled

You misunderstand. He was reporting that the bug wasn’t effecting him.

For context though, this is for studio opening vr when opened, regardless of settings. Not normal roblox.

The normal Roblox client is launching Steam VR for me right now, even when Steam itself isn’t launched. I don’t even see an option in Roblox settings to turn off VR. Did they remove that option?

This keeps regressing. Can’t even open Roblox Studio unless I disconnect my cable, which has a high chance of breaking it since the breakaway cable is not meant for this, and I will not unplug 3 cables I can barely reach every time I open Studio. Absurd. Get this under control please.
