My computer never shuts down. It’s always on.
Out of curiosity… What exactly do you think Microsoft would do if they had your “sensitive data”?
Sell it like Google.
Also, if Microsoft has it, it’s on the internet, which means anyone can get it at anytime. No one is hack-proof. And before you say they can just go directly for your home computer, getting a group people to attack Microsoft sounds like a lot less effort than doing individual attacks.

And I don’t really do anything on my phone, I use DuckDuckGo on my PCs, and I use my phone for maps, youtube, and as a phone.
Out of curiosity, what data do you think they collect exactly that is harmful to you?
If it’s data you’re afraid could be used to identify you, what are you doing to make people attempt to identify you?
I have a question here, if every dev here started only using Linux. Would it then become a higher priority in the list then where it is now?
Doesn’t matter because that won’t happen. If there were an argument that could convince every dev to convert to linux even though roblox isn’t on it then roblox would have already ported.

No, it’s not identifying data I’d be worried about, although that is also important to me, It’s actually mostly plans, designs, CAD files for machines that are confidential, and I’m not happy about Microsoft getting a hold of them. While I think it’s unlikely much will be done with them, in the off chance that a hacker gets a hold of them and realizes what they are, and sells them, I would be insanely upset. Another one is that they could easily be misconstrued as designs for illegal machines (And I have the plans for two illegal ones as well, for archival reasons), and I don’t want the ATF/Swat/etc. busting into my door to arrest me because Microsoft stored all our data in one place, and the government asked to peek at the data (the two illegal files would be easily found, they are already in the government’s database, so a simple file hash comparison would locate them, I never bothered to encrypt the files because I assumed my privacy was my privacy).
The reason for Roblox to switch is it’s looking like I am now going to dual boot XP and linux, which means I have to find all of the XP drivers over again, and my time spent working on roblox (a significant portion of my day) I had to deal with only 2GBs of RAM, and no, Mac is not an option, as they are just as free with your privacy as Windows is.
A linux port should be simple, both Mac and Android are based on Linux, and Roblox should be using cross-platform libraries for almost everything. Unless Roblox did something really hacky and wrong, Linux support should be as simple as adding in a few flags, and compiling the source for Linux.
Edit: One reason (not the only) that I wouldn’t want people to identify me is that online I’m freer about telling people I’m a psychopath, which I am fairly certain you know is not a culturally acceptable mental condition. The only person who knows I am IRL is my mom, and if everyone knew I’m pretty sure my life would be permanently wrecked, even if I could avoid being sent to a mental hospital if someone tried to do me harm (being popular will always make a few people mad at you, and being non-conformist will make a few more). Although the risk of being identified, and then someone being upset enough at me to try and wreck my life is low, I’m more concerned about being charged with possession of illegal plans/designs.
None of those things are going to happen to you & ROBLOX is not getting an official Linux port any time soon. The worst thing that’ll happen is that you’ll get some advertisements that are slightly more related to your interests.
I know you say your privacy is your privacy but it really feels like you’re making it EVERYONE’S business with this thread.
wut
If you’re so sensitive and protective over your data, why the heck would you just say this?
This thread is just too much for me.

And now you just added this. I’m not trying to call you out or anything but really.
I’m not concerned about my privacy in this forum, I’d be concerned if information on me was in an unlocked place, or a central repository, anyone who would hack into RBXDev wouldn’t care about what I said, and the government isn’t going to ask RBXDev anytime soon for all of the forum posts.
Essentially, this is a place I can freely talk about my issues, also, I didn’t say enough to be incriminating, and both statements could easily be taken back if someone used this as their source. There’s no sense in maintaining privacy everywhere, you have to be a human some portion of your day. To contrast, Microsoft actually having the file would be potentially incriminating, or a minimum it could make me have to go to court in the near future, if the government asked for the data Microsoft collected.
ok enough lol just dual-boot and use windows ONLY for programs that are only compatible with windows problem solved
use proxies
use deep web if u want extra privacy while browsing the web

dual booting is a pain, and I would be dual booting XP, XP is outdated. I get that it would be a legitimate answer if I were dual booting a newer OS, but I don’t want to support Windows and their data collection, and Mac is just as bad as Windows is.
It should be as easy as adding a few flags, and compiling for linux, in order to get a linux port working. It is not a hard venture at all when you use cross platform libraries.
If you don’t want anyone to have any data on you, why use the internet at all? In fact, how do you even do anything, virtually or physically, without providing any data on yourself?
It’s like how a teacher learns more about their students and what interests them - it’s not like anyone is looking specifically at you saying, “oh, look, this Weeve guy is designing bombs in CAD”.

Actually… it’s quite difficult to keep my identities separate, for the most part I just give lots of false information in areas that aren’t illegal, or go without many services people normally use. As far as the government is concerned, they don’t have any data on me except for the same data they had when I was born. As far is online is concerned, they have nothing linking me to my IRL identity but the state I live in.
And when the government flags a file as illegal plans, and if they find that you have this file, I doubt they will look on me with pride about how cute it is that file, and I am making things that are almost illegal. Besides the point, lots of people have reasons to want privacy, and currently it’s very difficult to have a private computer and run roblox at the same time.

Yeah you should probably just stay off the internet.

Just delete the incriminating files and you won’t have a problem.

I have them for a reason, I’m archiving them so they aren’t lost, they are historical files that I disagree with the government having completely removed all trace of them from the internet. Regardless, that won’t save me because they’ve already been sent to Microsoft, I was using that as an example for why people expect their right to privacy to not be violated without warning.
Can I have a Roblox admin/rep give me a response on this? I need to make some decisions, and they hinge on whether a Linux port will be made or not, I am considering dropping Roblox as a platform to use (unlikely though) and would appreciate a response sooner than later so I can make a switch to a more secure OS.
