I’ve been also having this issue lately, what ive noticed is that when im using my 5 ghz connection it occurs 100% of the time 5-20 minutes after joining the game, however when i use my 2.4 ghz connection the issue does NOT happen but my 2.4 ghz connection is slow so im not using it

Thank you guys for the continued reports and details, and for your patience with the disconnections. Just wanted to pop in to say we are still actively investigating this

Hey guys - if you guys are able to reproduce the issue, could you please take a Client Microprofile whenever you notice this, and send the dump to us (via DMs or posted here, to me or @PlumJar , whatever you are comfortable with)? We’re still investigating, and this could help us understand what’s going on.

Interesting, thank you! What’s weird is that it looks like the jobs we have that are involved in packet ingress are all running, they’re just doing unrealistically little work each frame…

If this happens to you again, it would be awesome if you could take a video/screenshots where, on top of doing cmd/ctrl + shift + F3, you could also hit shift + 1 multiple times to cycle through the other Networking statistics, like in these screenshots as examples (see the lower right corner box in each image):

Also it would be helpful if Performance Stats are displayed as well, if anyone is able to reproduce on video

Specifically we are suspicious about the freeze occuring here:

Thank you guys for the help!

has massively increased in frequency today and the time to disconnect has dropped to a few minutes.

This has been happening to me a lot

I have tested this issue more recently and noticed that this thread has woken up. Something I have noticed is, that this mainly happens in games that have a lot of data flowing between the client and the server. The frequency is increased with higher amounts of data.

Here are three games this has been happening to me more than usual:

These three games are the places I mainly disconnect (semi-)often in. The first in the list is the one with the most disconnects I have experienced. Disconnects also vary from server location to server location. I have been experiencing a lot more disconnects from Frankfurt and Chicago servers.

Silent disconnects are not influenced by the load on the game server. In these three games, especially the first one, the server gets extremely overloaded (Measured by in-game admin tools at about 87%). This results in a ping that is higher than 1500 at some points. This does not increase the frequency of disconnects surprisingly.

Lastly, I have checked if the disconnects are caused by any bad networking hardware on my end. I have tested the cables, smart switch, and MikroTik router controlling my network. All tests succeeded with no errors. The ethernet cables were tested with a proper CAT-8 cable analyzer.

Current Theory & A possible relation to another (similar) issue

As of now, my theory is that when the server sends big amounts of data to the client, the client can be overloaded. This causes it to deny data from being recieved and sent (aka.: A kind of rate limit). This can also happen the other way round. During a random unrelated test, I have discovered that using a macro to spam tools with remote events firing on equip, can cause you to send an extreme amount of data to the server. This causes the server to deny any sent data from the client for a certain duration. This causes a client/server desync.

The server queues the data that was sent during the time that the connection was denied and processes everything at the same time when the client is allowed to send data again. This only blocks any data going TO the server. The client still receives data normally.

These two issues COULD be related. If so, this would be the server-sided equivalent of this bug.

Today this issue have turned really evil for me - it disconnects me silently in around 2 minutes in EVERY possible experience.

(Hopefully studio can work without such issues)

Hey guys - we’re still actively investigating this issue. One of the things we’re doing is adding more logs that detect various failure cases - if you reproduce this issue, please send me or @PlumJar your Client logs!

+1^ Thank you guys for your patience. The latest release has some new logs and telemetry specifically to help us investigate this issue. If you have previously provided us with a log, please consider DM’ing us with new one(s) during your repros!

I remember this bug happening to me once in Item Asylum, in 2021 something. I just quit Roblox after like 10 something minutes of being frozen for ages.
I’m a mobile Roblox player however (although I develop on PC, I play games on mobile) and since then I have never been “frozen” before in that game. Perhaps it’s a mostly PC thing?
