Save the Date: RDC 2020!

Members and new members are allowed to come to RDC, it isn’t just member only. I am a new member myself. I got invited during the application wave though. There will still be a chance of you getting invited!

Can we have a moment of silence for RDC EU… 2 years in a row there hasn’t been RDC EU, and quite frankly it’s just disappointing because me and a bunch of other EU developers have been waiting for this moment. :frowning:

Jalen, you’re in for a treat. RDC will be an experience you’ll never forget. It’s so worth going!

I can’t find words for how disappointed I am. RDC 2019 could have been awesome, but Roblox decided to just put up a projector for a 1 day event. I thought that Roblox would have realized that 2019 “Viewing party” was a joke. That they would learn and rebuild the community’s trust. But no. I was already broken into pieces last year when I couldn’t go to a real RDC, but now, Roblox is literally breaking my soul into pieces.

Back in 2018, David Baszucki announced a list of 10 five years predictions. One of them being “No country with more than top 50% of the developers”. He said that he wanted devs outside North America to join the dev community, to expand.

Do Roblox really think that this will fullfill their predictions? It won’t. There is a reason why it’s on “hold”. And this will not help.

I don’t know about the other developers, but I am certain that there is a huge proportion of the community that feels like Roblox didn’t fullfill their expectations, that Roblox let them down. I know for sure that I do.

I attended my first RDC at RDC EU 2018. And if Roblox keeps letting EU down, then it will for sure, be my last. I can’t afford to go to America. There is only a small fraction of the developers in the community that can afford to do such. Travel so far, buying hotel tickets, entry costs, etc.

We don’t care if this will be “The biggest RDC event ever”. If we can’t attend, then there is no point for us to even watch the livestream. I think that the majority of the community loves RDC to connect with new developers. Not the sit in their room the whole night, watching others have fun.

And to all of the people reading this from North America. You might find me annoying for complaining, but put yourself in our shoes. Imagine if Roblox was a company in Germany, and that they would only host RDC there. Everyone in North America would be annoyed at that and feel the same as we do.

Roblox. Please. Consider RDC EU 2020. I know that you most likely have planned a lot for RDC US, but it’s better to make a somewhat good RDC EU than none at all. Rebuild your developers trust. Without us, you guys wouldn’t be where you are.

Thanks for reading.

RDC EU will be missed. I just hope Roblox realize their mistake.

I don’t live in EU, I live in the US. I think they should have at least RDC over there just for all of amazing developers in the EU like you! By the way, a bit off topic, but you are an amazing builder, and aspire to be like you one day!

I am a new member and I got invited every year.

I had to apply in 2017 ( Pretty sure that was before I joined the forums ) and ever since I have been getting invites without having to apply
And I joined the forums in 2018 ( At least I think it was 2018 )

So more than likely new members also get an invite

That’s some great news for all the New Members out there, that hope to get invited to the RDC.

But what does the application include ? Does it actually select by how skilled you actually are at a certain domain ? Or how does it work ?

Can’t say I’m not disappointed about the RDC EU not being announced BUT I will definitely be striving to attend this year’s RDC.

I’ve found previous years (2017,2018, was going to 2019 but due to family issues had to drop out), to be amazing and I think as my first US event that I’ll be heading to, it’ll certainly be awesome too. I highly suggest that if people are willing to go, they prepare their funds in advance. As the date has been released, the invites will likely shortly follow within a few weeks or months, and especially if you are travelling from outside of the US like I am, you’ll want enough time to reserve your plane tickets (they tend to get more expensive the closer you leave it to summer.)

All in all, the trip is definetly worth it. It provides you with something that you can definetly talk about and it’s an overall educational experience, if not a fun social one (personally I like meeting my friends as well). I wish everyone good luck when invites come out, and remember, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get an invite. I’m sure most people here are qualified.

From what I can remember :

It asked for the likes of name age etc
Then it asked to link something like a tweet or a game that shows a good bit of work that you have done.

Thats pretty much all I can remember from it, It may have changed over the years .

So how does one get invited to RDC again? Cause pretty sure from last time (RDC 2019) past members couldn’t get a invitation who attend RDC way back.

Hoping I can make it out there one time once I graduate college, it seems like a fun and amazing experience!

How many people can this venue support? Last year staff told the fellas and I there was 460 people attending. Is this going to be able to support 500+?
