Great and all, but it really sucks that the event takes place in September. Is there any specific reason over choosing a better month like July or August where a larger portion of the roblox developer community who is in school could attend in person (such as myself)? I found the virtual RDC this year to be incredibly underwhelming and kind of pointless because I couldn’t go in person due to it being in the fall. I understand that the admission is free for online, but it honestly felt like we were being treated as second class developers compared to those who could make it in person.
If the date can’t be changed, please make virtual attendance actually worth it and mean something compared to in person!
It’s for the people who are really good at their craft or big devs. I am hoping to go this year since I live less than 30 miles from the convention center
I don’t see anything that tells you that this event is only for people who have been working for years and years or are “great with their craft”. In recent years the invite process has been unknown which probably means it is more random and indiscriminate than ever.
If it was based on developers who have been working for years and years, my invite must’ve got lost in cyberspace this last few years. I’ve been on the platform since 2010 and a developer since 2011.
All I was saying is that the invite process does not work to a science. They do it in phases based on unknown criteria and developers of all abilities have a chance of being invited.
I believe that Roblox should specify some form of requirement to get invited to the conference. I see people who genuinely aren’t too well known in the developer community compared to others get invited and I’m wondering how they managed to get in.
It appears that Twitter is the only practical way for me as of now.
Nobody is aware of how the invitation process works beside DevRel themselves, however if you analyze the patterns of people getting invited you can pretty quickly reach the conclusion that they aren’t based off of time spent on the platform solely
