From what I’m seeing all the reviews on this post are mostly positive the only downside I can see to these people making is the amount of impersonation and potential scamming that can be taken along with it.
Now I’m aware Roblox has placed restrictions to “Prevent” this but it still wont completely fix it issue for the smaller developers/youtubers.

So maybe there will be an “expiration time” like if you won’t log in to Roblox for a long time…? I don’t see any way to do not allow impersonators and at the same time allow the use of the name of 13-year-old names and your own, e.g. without numbers…

I am not worried about the impersonation thing, because it‘s easy to find out the real account behind the display name. I think it’s a really good and useful update to roblox. It will make changing your username useless but really, that tool is overpriced. Good thing display names is coming.

I really don’t want that Feature! I could Name me “Roblox” and Scam much People or in some Games, a Person ruin my Stats and all would hate me even if i am not Online at this Time

They already have a filter where you cannot name yourself popular devs, ROBLOX admins or star creators. Go check out Koneko’s video, he went over the whole procedure ROBLOX is doing for impersonation.
(Im sure that other youtubers went over this but thats the only video I know of.)
Another thing is that this takes the fun out of having your own unique name, being able to change your name willy nilly would allow anyone to BECOME M9_Sigma or whatever YOUR username is. Even if not done maliciously, that isn’t a good time for any small time developers like myself. Anyone can just take my username and masquerade around as me. It completely ruins the point of a reputation around your name and makes yourself virtually unrecognizable in games.
If Roblox is to make this optional within games, you can be sure that I will be disabling it. I still think this feature needs killing, there’s just way too much wrong with it.

Oh that’s cool, display names are released if your location is set to Germany.
Now looking at this update, it’s easily identifiable to see your username and display name, so there shouldn’t be any issue in impersonation. 
Edit: Roblox patched it, the display names being released early must’ve been a glitch.

A way to give people a verified tick beside their display names would be great, like Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.
It could be for more than just developers, even just more popular players, such as YouTubers and etc.

Yea but they removed it not fun
it was chaos you could of have the same Display name i’m glad it was disabled before it got too out of hand.

I got one but they patched it so i lost mine
I have it, but they disabled it in-game. On the Profile and Settings pages, they are all fine.
Try reloading the page and see if it stays

Giving feedback to this, Display Names is a good idea for casual nicknames, but sadly people are abusing the filter system for this function. A recommendation would be to work on a better filter because even anyone can easily impress someone. Even I could even break this system filter and put names like creators or developer names.
