Roblox has several teams that work on different projects at once. They definitely didn’t forget about display names, but it does look like they went back to the drawing board on them, and I’m all here for it. There were just too many concerns to ignore, and thankfully it looks like they’re not going to ignore them.

This could either be very beneficial or really bad, it’s really up to how the players use it, just like the voice chat. I’m excited for display names.

This feature implementing to Roblox is a great idea for people who have numbers in their username but, impersonation of users will be risky. I suggest making a rule regarding to not impersonate anyone using the Display name. This will make many Developers not have the risk of impersonation and not 500 people having the same username.

Display names is a great way to weaken the name snipers’ market as these people trade with, and even sell rare usernames. Now that everyone can have such a name, even if it’s just displayed, they won’t be able to sell their accounts too well anymore and they will lose attention. Thank you, ROBLOX!

So, with Display name, it will have less account sold and it will have less scam that they sell banned account

Maybe after reaching a certain amount of followers, a developer can send a request or something to have his exact username/display name unusable?

IT feels like it could be bad but hopefully it should lead to something good.
Good idea, also I got an idea for the system. The idea is, if you go to the player list and hover on someone’s display name, it shows the actual username to decrease impersonating.
Well thats 44 characters to begin with. You can’t exceed 20 characters with display/usernames.

I mean they could just limit the letters to the normal Latin letters.

It was and also still is a good idea, until the issue came across that people are using Virtual Private Servers to connect to the certain countries that have the feature unlocked. The other issue is that, if you changed it, you will not be able to remove it now. A friend of mine told me to contact the Roblox support regarding that.

You can bot followers really easily and bot other people followers easily too. Someone botted my followers and friend requests.

Then why even add them? Hmm? They are literally pointless and useless if you can’t have them as usernames. There are 10+ year old accounts that are inactive or banned and have usernames that people want. Adding this functionality would ultimately ruin the one purpose of a display name.

That is technically true but he does have a point. If you can’t change your display names to a current active username or banned username that voids the entire purpose of the update. Your pretty much able to change your username for free at that point.
