Saying "Discord" in roblox results in a ban

Everything but guilded since they own it.

Great the only site/app that no one uses and the one that is copying discord design.

Plenty of people use this stunning and amazing resource.

Didn’t see them even when i joined roblox official server( very low activity comparing it to everything else ) .
Maybe there are people using it but not a lot

There is roughly 2 million monthly active users of guilded.

Directed as “Directing Users off-Platform”.

You say that as if Discord is completely original and did not copy features and designs from other chatting apps (fun fact: Discord isn’t even remotely original either).

Discord is just sus in general.

That platform has knarly stuff. And with a platform full a kids, NOPE.

Also, I think it’s funny how Roblox supports the profile and game links to Discord, but not the actual word. Like wth.

They support profile and game links because those links are automatically hidden from <13 users, but in places like a profile bio or game description they have to be filtered for a general audience and thus cannot allow links to Discord there.

you know they have the same exact features right?
and Guilded is newer so they most be the one copying other successful apps.

curious to know which app?

You’ve ever heard of Skype? Been around before Discord blud.

guided is a chatting app, there is only so many features you can add :sob:
ofc they have like the exact same features, what do you want them to have lootboxes or something?

good times lol

design copy. as in look / UI / UX / and Features.

There is literally a “knock off” of Discord from 2002. I mean look at this. It’s like the great grandpa of Discord.

Discord copied a lot of what they originally had from Slack. In fact, their UI was basically identical to Slack’s many years ago to the point where people were even questioning if it was by the same people.

you can have the exact features but still feel different.
bad example but anyway: Fortnite and COD the both have a lot of shared features but if you ever said they both are the seem people will run in your direction ( not in a good way )

another example : Discord and TeamSpeak ( a lot of shared features but man you can’t imagine how much different they feel and look )

I’ve tried guided and man I knew where everything I needed is because of their similar place in discord

Edit To stop spamming off-topic replies

Hey this looks more like teamspeak.
i’m not calling it copying because they both are chatting apps for games

oh good example. but hey at least they are not in the same ( genera? if can call it this )

man the whole internet is a copy of telephones ( jk )
last reply of me so i don’t spam this thread more with discord discussions ( Sorry OP )

It violates it because you’re trying to direct people off-site, where Roblox can’t moderate or keep an eye on your actions. Basically the moderation system assumes you’re asking other users for their Discord account/username by mentioning it in the chat.

Games aren’t a random user in the chat(that Roblox is supposed to keep an eye on). Also those games use an API to ensure that only certain accounts(I think 13+?) can see anything Discord related.

Here’s an example of how an external discord link can be properly implemented if you’re a developer of a game:

local function canShowDiscord(player: Player): boolean
	--pcall this
	local policyInfo = game.PolicyService:GetPolicyInfoForPlayerAsync(player)
	local externalLinks = policyInfo.AllowedExternalLinkReferences
if not externalLinks then return false end
--convert index(number) to bool(if Discord is in the table or not)
	return not not table.find(externalLinks, "Discord")
end

If this call returns true for a specific player you pass to it, that means you can show an official developer or group Discord link to that player.

But you can link your discord to groups and games

Doesn’t appear for players under 13.

Hey there. I hope you’re having a good day!

This thread has a variety of responses that may or may not directly address your concerns. I‘ll try my best to answer them from what you‘ve shared so far:

TL;DR:

  • You likely received the wrong ban reason; it should’ve been for directing users off-platform.
  • Sharing links (even to allowed platforms like Discord or YouTube) in chat or places where the PolicyService API can’t be used is against Roblox Community Guidelines.
  • Only users aged 13+ can see those social links due to privacy rules.

  1. Violating Roblox Community Guidelines:

You likely got your account moderated for the wrong reason. When it comes to Personal Identifiable Information (PII), you‘re unauthorized to ask any users sensitive information, including:

  • Email address
  • Passwords
  • Tokens
  • Home address/full location
  • Full legal name
  • Financial information (details about your bank account and cards)
  • Medical information
  • Telephone number
  • Biometric data
  • Internet Identifiers
  • Social Security Number
  • Images
  • Videos
  • Voices

In your case, what should’ve happened is that you‘d be moderated for directing any user to other places that are outside of the Roblox platform, “Directing Users Off-Platform”. Reviewing the article on the Roblox Community Guidelines page, users aren’t allowed to share URL links from third-party services and applications that aren’t white-listed. As of right now, you can only include the following:

  • YouTube
  • Facebook
  • Discord
  • X (formerly known as “Twitter” before rebranding)
  • Guilded
  • Twitch

All of these platforms must be used under the PolicyService API. This ensures compliance with Roblox’s regulations. Any use outside supported contexts, such as in-game chat, is not allowed.

  1. Who can see external social media platforms?

Any external social media links (from those that are whitelisted) are only visible to users who are 13+. This is due to child online privacy laws, primarily from COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), protecting children’s data.

Because of these factors, Roblox enforces these protections to ensure the safety of users and their privacy, following all of these legal regulations. Additionally, social media platforms generally require users to be at least 13 years old to create or interact with accounts.

https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004630823-Roblox-Privacy-and-Cookie-Policy#:~:text=If%20you’re%20under%2013%20years%20old%2C%20your%20access%20to,policy%20is%20just%20for%20you.

https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/children-on-twitch?language=en_US

Therefore, if you’re under 13, Roblox will automatically hide links to these external platforms. Users 13 and older can view and access them when properly shared.
