Area - 14 Update Notes

The following thread contains information regarding game updates for Area - 14, the main group place for the SCP Foundation. This thread will be frequently updated with new posts and information as needed to convey the contents of and state of an update.

Updates follow a loose form of semantic versioning as well as custom headers.

Version 3.9.1

Improvements & Changes

  • Added a dedicated area for users in the game menu.

  • You can now sprint while holding a weapon.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where all users spawn in the AD spawn.

  • Radio should no longer be missing from users who have it.

Christmas Update

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, as the notably copyrighted song says! The Christmas update is now available at both Area 14 and Site 17 . Go and enjoy this winter wonderland!

Medical Department Updates

MD vials have been fixed per a suggestion on our suggestions platform. If you want to see something happen - post it there! (Yes, all your wild ideas.)

In addition, ads are running (also per the request of a suggestion on the website) - hop on Area 14 and show us what you’ve got!

Version 3.11.0

Additions

  • Added TSTA door labels.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where doors would become blocked.

  • Addressed several security issues.

Community Update

Fulfilling another top community suggestion, hostiles now have direct access to the shaft leading to the LCZ near the checkpoint.

I imagine this’ll come handy in the future. Has to do with the various requests for music and optimisation, but maybe other things can go in here.

February 23rd, 2020 Update

This patch had to be made ahead of time due to certain inconveniences. There are still various items that have not been tested or are left unfinished, but here we go.

Additions

  • Settings menu option. Currently does not have any options on it.

  • Old menu music (Aviators - No One Will Save You) has been added back at a lower volume.

  • New primary weapons: SCAR-L and Kriss Vector.

  • New secondary weapon: Desert Eagle.

  • O5 Council identifier for Kareeem_Jr.

Improvements & Changes

  • Made guns louder.

  • Various Glock 17 damage changes.

  • Breach tunnel C4s are now quieter.

  • Field Chiefs can now access MTF’s complete arsenal.

Removals

  • Removed role identifiers from devSparkle, RafDev and Pleixdes.

  • Removed all Version 2 update logs from the in-game updates menu.

February 28th, 2020 Update

Additions

  • Placeholder slot for version 3.14.0 in the update menu.

Improvements & Changes

  • Documented version 3.11.0 properly in the update menu.

  • Allowed Financial Staff to wear the Classic Fedora via the avatar editor.

  • Eve notification sound is now quieter.

  • Beta-7 Sergeant and above may use the regen command in the terminal.

Removals

  • Military Police can no longer use the gun and shield combo.

  • Roblox hats that make sound are now globally muted.

February 29th, 2020 Update

Additions

  • Second TSiD portrait (that’s me!).

  • There is now a team kill indicator in the gun data Gui.

  • SCP-606 and SCP-999 now work with the terminal reset command.

  • Added the UMP45 and M93R.

Improvements & Changes

  • Pump sound for pump shotguns, currently only the R870.

  • Hostile trainees (Devotee & Outsider) can no longer access the team during raids.

  • Level 4 can now control containment zone lockdowns.

  • Skylight can be controlled by Class A, Sigma-9, Security Lieutenants and Hostiles.

  • Foundation Suit can now be accessed by Medium Command on Foundation personnel teams.

  • R870 and SCAR-L gun sounds changed.

  • MG36 maximum damage lowered, mag storage changed to 3 mags from infinite and added semi-auto firing cycle.

Fixes

  • Beta-7’s command accessed changed from regen to reset. Regen loads an entire system from scratch while reset is meant for literally resetting SCPs.

  • Protocol Blackout now properly shuts off all lights.

Removals

  • devSparkle’s hat combination.

  • Prox_914 no longer kicks.

March 1st, 2020 Update

Improvements & Changes

  • Coarse and Fine settings can now no longer be mixed when using SCP-914.

  • Team kill indicator is now more clear as to what it is currently on.

  • MG36 empty clip reloading time doubled.

  • Security Seniors and Task Force Sergeants may now enter the server room.

  • SRU may now access the spawn rooms for ScD and MD.

  • Level 4 and Alpha-1 may now access solitary confinement cells.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where ammo counter consistently raised errors in the console.

  • Attempted a fix where the default smile would not render on characters.

  • Second vial fix attempt.

Version 3.14.3

  • MP5SD now accessible by Alpha-1.

  • MG36 mag storage increased to 20 and damage dramatically dropped.

  • R870 now accessible by Senior Insurgents, Priests and Elders

  • Desert Eagle now accessible by Alpha-1.

  • M93R and M1911 fire rates increased.

  • Vial permissions updated by request of department high command.

  • Blanks can now be selected in loadouts.

  • Wolves uniform changed by request of hostile group high command.

Fixes

  • Third vial fix attempt.

  • Fixed access to and for SCP-005.

March 10th, 2020 Update

March 14th, 2020 Update

Because I don’t like exploiters.

Improvements & Changes

  • Patched fly noclip exploiting.

  • SCP-606 can now be properly reset and has had its search range reduced.

The HCZ Release Update

HCZ when? HCZ now. Released the initial Heavy Containment Zone with three (3) functioning, highly-advanced and complex SCPs.

Please, expect bugs, and there will be. The SCPs have went through countless QA testing but nothing simulates the live version. Be patient with us and it’ll pay off.

Additions

  • HCZ!! It can be accessed by Level 4, ScD medium command, SD medium command and non-trainee MTF operatives.

Improvements & Changes

  • Cuffed players should now also jump when the detaining player does.

  • You can now choose no item for primary and secondary tools in the avatar editor.

  • Hid the settings tab, will revisit the menu in a future update.

  • Development staff may now wear hats on the Manufacturing Department team.

  • Level 4 can now control the Zone A to Containment Zones gate when it is not locked down.

  • MG36 infinite mag storage restored, buffed damage range and disallowed its selection during raid times.

  • Vial backend updated to prepare for fix attempt four.

  • Hostiles now have five inventory slots.

  • Updates to SCPs 094, 330, 914 and 606. SCP-914 activation range reduced to 8 from 89.

Fixes

  • SCP-005 fixed again. It wasn’t registered as an access tool.

  • Fixed inconsistencies in containment chamber doors.

March 22nd, 2020 Update

Additions

  • Second hostile spawn outside.

Improvements & Changes

  • Special Insurgent in Command and Tribunal now have access to the Hostile Leader extension.

  • Special Insurgent and Cardinal now have access to the Hostile External extension.

  • Hostiles now have access to the CZ Tunnels again (access shaft near the LCZ).

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the player’s face would not render if it was the default smiley.

  • Fixed SCP-999 regen command.

Removals

  • Players are no longer allowed to wear waist accessories in game. You can thank UGC creators for this, because of the recent fad of making large game-breaking hats. This will be in place until I can vet UGC selections better.

  • Security can no longer access the HCZ as requested by department high commands.

Service Announcement - UGC Accessories

Releasing an independent patch regarding the loadout. I’d rather not have done this but large, unrealistic and game-breaking accessories have unfortunately been becoming a larger problem on both sides: D Class wearing distracting assets to confuse gunfire and personnel violating the Supreme Guidelines on appropriateness.

For the time being, accessory restrictions are being increased. I understand this may get rid of legitimate accessories and I apologise to those affected but our current systems don’t support a comfortable way to get accessories on a deny list. That, I will work on at another time.

All accessory types that attach anywhere below the shoulders will be affected by this update. I have tried making an exception for hip-based attachments as the only non-head accessory allowed, so if you have any accessories below the waist you want showing, you should hope the UGC hat creators rigged the hip accessories properly.

Service Announcement - Security Applications

I’ve now implemented an automated check on if the Security Department application should be open or closed depending on the day of the week. The time it works from is UTC. You may need to find your timezone’s offset and make some conversions if you are interested in applying and need to know when an ideal time is.

Feel free to ask around or use our existing informational resources if you need to know when the closure dates are so you can plan accordingly to apply.
