Should I make my game on account or on a group?

Can someone list me all the pros and cons of publishing on a group and on an account? And overall which one is better?

Groups are better since you can have a holder + your actual account both with executive power which lowers the risk to essentially zero of you being banned/hacked permanently.

Also, group funds can be distributed without taxes, making paying devs and fans easier.

Putting the game on your account is mostly just for vanity.

Pros of account:
Game visits are shown on your profile
You get all the profit
You can tell everyone that you made the game

Pros of groups:
Payouts are easier
People will recognize your game and the group
Makes collaborating with a team easier

And that’s all I can think of

Which are better in terms of profit though? or are they both the same for that section?

Also I heard if you get robux from group funds it’s not devexable? Or if you earn robux from the game and it goes to the group thats also cant be devexed.

No. The profits are the same. In fact, all big games are owned by groups.

One more thing:

Can you dumb this down for me cuz im struggling to understand. I haven’t ever used a group so thats why.

Make the owner of the group a bot/holder account. This has multiple benefits.

  1. Since you’re usually on your main account, even if someone steals your cookies or other data, they’re stealing your main account and not the holder so your group stays safe.
  2. If you get banned (legit or false) by Roblox mods in Studio or in games you will still own the group via the holder.

As for the executive part, you can give a lot of game and group modifying rights to your main account while keeping the holder as the group owner, so it is equally expedient.

Hope this helps. God bless.

Now I know why most developers use “Holders”, I’ve always wondered why not use your “Main account”? Thanks for sharing.

Because usually you play games and work in Studio with your main, which means it will be more likely to be banned.

Oh is that bad? because I have been working on one of my games on my main but I’m planning to publish it under a group with an alt as a holder.

Getting banned is pretty severe.

No I meant is it bad that I’ve been working on my game through my main account instead of an alt?

Again i’m planning to release the game on a group but originally I saved the game to my account so it says “By Amritss” but I can change the owner of the game to a group right?

Just make sure that the group holder isn’t editing the game.

I’m not 100% sure on how groups work but if I remember when I was doing commissions the group holder is able to edit the game due to their role.

By the way i’ve checked other big games made by groups and the group holder is their main account (no alt). Are you sure it’s really necessary to do this?

Yes. The group holder can always edit the game. But you can give this permission to non-holders too. If you commit an offense on a non-holder editor account, the account will be banned but the holder and the group will stay entirely safe. I hope this help. You can have unlimited amount of non-holder editors but only one holder. So you know how to deal with risks now.

By the way, “main account” doesn’t mean the symbolic account but the one that is used to edit games, upload content and play games with. For example, the account that you use to debate people online in games. It’s more prone to be banned falsely or rightly.

Ah, so I can make myself the group holder and show that I created the game but not give myself permissions to edit right so I won’t be in trouble?

Does the group holder without permissions still have that little creator checkmark next to their name on the leaderstats?

Yeah I know what main account means by the way I was just curious. Appreciate it though

I heard history about this.

And I don’t think it should matter. Because if it does then it’s a problem that Roblox should fix.
