Should users under 13 be allowed to use the roblox developer forum? And should new members be allowed to create new topics under all categories?
Depends I think all ages should be allowed if they are professional and what they write is accurate. As for category’s it depends some should take time to unlock others should instantly unlock.
I’ve met plenty of young devs ages 10 to 13 who have spot on grammar, know what their doing, and are very professional.
I mean if you see someone who is fooling around that is what the flag is for.
Simple answer, no. Most younger developers fool around a lot, and probably would make the forum a less professional place. New members shouldn’t be able to post in more categories, resources and discussion has been bombarded with useless posts because new members don’t understand how to use them.
The sole reason why regulars can post anywhere is because they understood the rules and they were on the forum for quite a while, the more active you are on the forums, the more permissions you get.
Some doesn’t mean all, we don’t really want to take the risk of opening up the forum for a minority of young developers who actually take it seriously.
No I think that only 13 and up. Young people will fool around. And no, new members should not be able to do everything. I myself am a new member and if I was allowed to do everything then the devforum would be a chaotic place.
Still, @VegetationBush that’s most Of the young developers. Some are very serious about developing on roblox.
I strongly agree with you @ItzAuraX, most isn’t all.
@VegetationBush it’s hard to follow the continuity of a thread when you reply to a reply by quoting it in the original post. Stop.
As for the OP, the majority of <13 users just can’t be trusted to have the base maturity level to have conversation on a forum that’s supposed to be about development or on topic.
Just because there’s a few that might be able to conduct themselves doesn’t mean that it won’t overwhelm others such as moderation who then need to pick up after those who won’t.
Do not forget the COPPA Law, where platforms must restrict kids who are under 13 years of age…
I politely disagree with you, with this way, many young talented developers would miss this oppurtunity.
I feel anyone should be welcomed onto the forum so long as they are mature enough to follow catagory guidelines and the rules,
As for new members being able to post anywhere, no, no and no.
It’s been proven time and time again a large portion of the member cohort are unable to follow catagory guildines in addition to the fact catagories such as lounge contain sometimes sensitive information not wished to be made fully public
I’ve moved your post to #forum-feedback @iWillUseTheRemote. In the future, please read the description of categories before making a post in them – #discussion is not for developer forum related topics.
I agree with both @Awesomed_AZ, and @LuaBearyGood, this would mean yound developers under 13 would miss out on getting commissions and would have to rely highly on games like Group Recruiting Plaza.
For privacy and kid safety reasons, this is simply not going to happen, full stop.
Although, there are definitively a large number of under 13s on the forum, including in this topic.
Even 13 is a very, very early age to be doing things like commissions. While not unheard of, it opens those same developers up to people who might take advantage of their labor for example. I’m sure our new and aspiring developers can wait a year or two to join in.
And yes, being over 13 won’t suddenly make you mature, but it guarantees some amount of experience more than otherwise.
I respectfully disagree with those who said that the forum should remain under restriction to users under 13, however I find it much more important for the users who are serious about roblox development. Maybe in the future, users under 13 could take a test including, grammar, maturity, and how serious they would be when posting.
I doubt we’d even see basic comprehension tests implemented for any age group. Again, under 13s literally cannot be allowed on the forums for legal reasons; so this topic is pointless.
Thank you all for your opinions on this! Some I agree with more than others, but that doesn’t mean that those people’s options don’t matter. Again, thank you all!
I don’t think members should be allowed to create topics under all categories, as I feel giving more permissions for ranking up is a type of “reward” for being dedicated on the forum. If you show you know how to use the forum properly you should be awarded these permissions, which you currently are.
I don’t see a reason why developers under 13 shouldn’t be allowed to use the Developer Forum as they may be serious about learning how to develop games on Roblox. However, I feel there is a more likely chance that those users who are under 13 and supposedly less mature would cause some issues. But to be honest, the majority of users under 13 years old will not be mature enough to be trusted on the forum. I feel it could be unfair for those who would abide by the rules, but I’d rather not take the risk of having the forum bombarded with people who cannot keep up with the rules.
The Roblox DevForum is a website where all developers from Roblox use to find a solution or discuss a topic about Roblox, Roblox Studio, and the site.
allowing users that are under the age of 15 can affect the site in a really bad way.
users that are under the age of 15 will not be able to control or lead a
project since they most likely have less experience, it’s like giving a kid a job before they reach 18 years old of age. (this is just one example)
I say that its ok to let those people use the site, HOWEVER, there should be some specific categories that they won’t be able to use, depends on the age of the user
That is very true, but I think maybe the higher ranks should just show that people appreciate your work, and acistance.
