Skybox Systems

Currently skyboxes are fairly static, limited to the built in Day/Night cycle system with a static night skybox and a changeable day one. But I think that skyboxes could be an incredibly useful and far more amazing with a few more features.

  1. Double skypboxes
    Having the ability to have 2 sykboxes with a transparency setting would be great for skybox transitions and custom day/night cycles, weather systems, and plenty of other cool effects

2)Skybox Rotation
The ability to rotate a skybox would be useful for say moving skybox clouds or special effects. This wouldn’t be as useful but could still be really cool to have.

I have some great ideas for what I could do if both of these things existed, and I’m sure other developers could find uses for them too.

I agree with number 1. I do some want sky layers for as there’s pretty much no workaround (as far as I know) due to the rendering that happens when you’re far away enough.

EDIT Being able to also change the size of the sun and moon would be nice and have moon phases for a more realistic look.

This is the #1 feature I’ve been wanting for ages. Full dynamic skyboxes would make current Roblox look dated. I’ve made multiple topics about it and have gotten a lot of people to agree on Twitter. Dynamic Skyboxes are a must for a truly immersive game.

Get and contact with guest – I remember him working on a skydome before with a sphere mesh. I think he got it working too, but I’m not sure.
