Some parts/models failing to stream in for a player

Summary
An issue with part streaming since 2022 has resurfaced since a short while ago where a part of the game will be missing or not streamed in for a player. I have just experienced this personally myself and have also received several reports of this happening to our other players up until this report.

Original bug report

Expected Results
No part of the game should be missing for the player.

@Real_BenTheMiner Thanks for reaching out.
Earlier today we reverted a change that could have be related to this issue. Could you please check whether the problem still occurs on new servers? Since the change is static, existing servers will only pick up the reverted version until they restart.

How early do you mean? This occurred at 8:33 PM Eastern with the server only being around 10 minutes old.

@Real_BenTheMiner Thanks for confirming. Do you have a repro file you could share with us? Having a reliable way to reproduce the issue on our end would help us investigate and resolve it more quickly.

It’s one of our work in progress games, I forgot to add the link to my report:

I don’t know if any players have experienced this in our open games.

I don’t know what could be the cause or how to test it, so I’m not sure what I would send as a repro file. I added the game link to the original bug report. However, it’s currently closed to the public as it’s work in progress. Is testing it possible?

@Real_BenTheMiner Thanks for clarification! Do you think if this issue is somehow reproducible in your own experience? If so, you could potentially grant us edit access with some instruction on what game journery we should take to be able to see the issue.

Also, I wanted to double-check one more time if you actively seeing this issue in PTA Development: Newport - Roblox or you think it has been alleviated. Thanks!

Also, if you’re still experiencing this issue on your end, try switching the ModelStreamingBehavior setting to Legacy/Default to see if that helps resolve it. We’re currently working on a known issue that may be more noticeable when using Improved mode.

This is the only game that we’ve been experiencing it in so far. I don’t recall us receiving any reports from players in our public games.

I will try comparing the streaming settings and see if they’re different between the games.

You’re likely correct; the game in question has streaming set to Improved as opposed to our open games having it set to Default.

I’ll set it to Default, and I expect that we won’t experience this issue anymore. Thanks, and I hope the issue can be resolved with Improved!

@Real_BenTheMiner Following up on this thread. We are planning to close this ticket as resolved, given the marked solution. Please let us know if you’d like to discuss this issue any further. Thanks!

We haven’t experienced this issue in the other games, nor in the mentioned game after changing the streaming mode, so it’s “resolved”, though this appears to be an issue with the Improved streaming behavior and I don’t know if that’s been fixed or is being fixed.

We have enabled a fix for an issue that could result in missing parts with improved model streaming. I would expect that you no longer encounter the issue even if you enable improved model streaming on your place, but please let us know if you do still see the issue after renabling.

Got it, I’ll return the game to the Improved mode and if the issue comes up again, I’ll make it known.
