I’ve been noticing this annoying trend in nearly every #collaboration:recruitment thread where the OP is paying with a percent and it is, quite frankly, pissing me off.
There are two things that should be noted:
- A lot of developers/group owners offer percentages as payment - percentage is the most commonly given form of payment.
- Many developers dislike percentage payments; many developers will accept percentages if they see potential, but by-and-large, people dislike the risks associated with percentage-based payments.
Obviously, those two facts clash – people want jobs, but don’t want to accept a percentage, but that’s all that’s being offered. Because of that, you might find yourself wishing the employer would offer up another form of payment - I know I have before.
However, that doesn’t justify filling up the replies with complaints, arguments, and suggestions about improving payment. I’ve been seeing WAY too many of these kinds of posts:
These kinds of replies aren’t only wrong on so many levels (people wanting long-term jobs often prefer percentages, percentages are a legitimate form of payment, etc.), but they’re honestly spam.
If the OP/employer says that payment form is negotiable or gives multiple forms of payment to choose from, then you can discuss them paying in non-percentage forms.
If the OP/employer says that they don’t have sufficient USD or robux to pay, so they are forced to pay with percentages (a very common dilemna), DON’T fill the comments telling them they won’t find developers, their payment sucks, etc.
If you dislike the payment form, don’t take the job - your petty complaints can’t change the fact that the OP might not be able to pay in certain forms.
My goal in posting this is to shed some light on this annoying habit some people have - if you’re the kind of person who replies like that, please stop. If you feel it’s absolutely necessary to criticize payment forms, then at the very least, let one person post their opposition/complaints - don’t fill the replies with repetitive payment suggestions.
