About Me

Hi I’m FaVmIkE a young roblox developer. I made a fan art of myself with taking idea from roblox arts and in the future I would like to start making roblox fan arts. Anyways I would like to see what I could improve on my art and what I should change.

I am pretty sure you have drawn the art with a mouse… and the horns are looking different from each other, including the neck I think it should be the same length and I think your not a professional so it is a pretty good start! Keep it up and continue increasing your skill level.

Yeah I have drawn this with a mouse and paint.net but I would like to buy an iPad for my birthday. Anyways I don’t know how to make the horns looking the same from each other I think I just should put more time on what I do to get a better draw. And no I’m not a professional, this is my second digital draw that I do but I want to improve too if I prefer modeling and building.

It looks pretty good in my opinion and I’m not an artist or art expert but here are some ideas:

  • I’m unsure if the “FaVmIkE” is meant to be a watermark or a logo on your shirt. If it’s meant to be a logo maybe draw it to be more cartoony to fit the style of the drawing. If it’s meant to be a watermark I suggest to put it in a better place as it can easily be cropped out without removing any important part of the image.

  • Maybe redo or add some more shading to the hair as it looks a bit off to me.

  • Add a face if you can unless it’s part of the style/ not meant to have a face in the first place.

  • The neck looks like one side is longer than the other, same with the shoulders and horns.

Other than that it looks pretty good for one of your first drawings.:+1:

I’d recommend trying out a different art style, personally this particular choice of shading just isn’t visually appealing to me. My advice to you would be reaching out to the professionals f.e being @EvilArtist for expertise.

I believe you’ve got potential just lack the proper skillset at the moment. I’m Looking forward to what you’re capable of in the future!

I just wrote FaVmIkE there because I don’t want people to steal my pictures but I’ll put a drawn logo in my next arts. I’m not really good with shading but I’ll try to improve it. Yeah the style of the draw is that, I don’t wanted to draw a face because I’m not really good with it, if I’ll do more arts of roblox account I think I’ll add a face on them and yeah I know the draw is not really symmetrical but I’ll try to improve in the next one with spending more time on it!

I’m not saying you need to draw your watermark, it’s perfectly fine just to use text. What I was saying was if it was meant to be text/ logo on the shirt(apart of the art not a watermark) then to draw it so it fits the style but if you want to draw a watermark that’s fine.

I’m no artist so I don’t really know what I’m talking about but to make the horns look the same couldn’t you put the horn on a seperate layer to the rest then copy and paste it and flip/ resize it so it looks the same just facing the other way?

Right now this is just my second draw so I just made this style but in the next ones I’ll try more styles and I’m bad with shading I’ll try to learn how to do it better. Anyways I know who is EvilArtist I follow her on twitter and I think she is one of the best drawer of roblox but she draws from a lot of year and I’m new with drawing but I’ll try to improve my skills.

I’ll be honest with you: I don’t know how to copy and paste draws :joy: but I always make more layers so next time I’ll do how you told me. Thanks!

Well I don’t really know what I’m talking about so :joy: Good luck with your future drawing though.

The most noticable thing is that you used a mouse to draw it. If you have a tablet or a smartphone you can install a free app such as Autodesk Sketchbook. The lines will look wayyy better!

Other than that I think everything’s been already said, except for the arms. The left one looks thinner than the right one

The neck looks a bit slanted in the right side, you can probably straighten it.

Considering you are new to digital art its quite good, the line art is quite wobbly but you did use a mouse. Consider using a different drawing software that has some sort of correction setting for the lines (personally medibang paint pro works for me), this will help make the lines cleaner. Just keep practicing as much as you can :+1:

This is kind of unrelated, but please sound more sure of yourself! Too many “I thinks” and “you mights”

I do believe you used a mouse to draw this, which is not suitable (maybe?) for drawing. Instead, I prefer using a tablet such as a Wacom intuos. You can start with a Wacom bamboo instead since Intuos is quite expensive.

The drawing tablet is a good idea and they sell cheap ones on Amazon so you can try it and see if you click with the process. What I mean is I had a Bamboo tablet and wasted my money because I could never get the hang of it since your hand is drawing one place, but you are looking up at your monitor. Eventually my dog chewed the pen up and I called it a day.

The iPad or cheaper Droid is a good idea because you are drawing on the screen and it’s closer to paper drawing. This is how cartoons like Family Guy are partially done. Drawn on the screen.

Another option you should look into is vector drawing. Programs like Adobe Illustrator and free Inkscape are used quite a bit for this but it also requires time and a different method than you might like.

Blender 2.8 has some drawing functions and you may also want to try Krita.

I would suggest trying to draw with the line tool than the paintbrush if you have a mouse. This for the outlines. You can of course manually colour it with the paintbrush tool (zoom really close pixel by pixel). Look at reference images and other artists to get ideas and inspirations.

as someone who started out with digital art with a mouse, this is pretty good for starting out!!
the shines / lighting make the character come off as rubbery. along with the pillowshading on the right of the character (shading that follows the lineart, not the form of the object / character)

if you want to get better, i suggest studying life and how light and shadows interact with the object. it can be tedious and a bit boring at first, but, personally i grew an appreciation for it as someone who draws!

the colors are pretty good! i especially love the purple, and the color used for the highlights on the hair. you’re on the right track!

One more suggestion:

Softwares

From your comment, you mentioned that you used Paint.net. I know you are just a beginner, but I prefer using software that is designed to draw stuff as it has more features to make your art detailed. Such as multiple pen types airbrushes, blenders, pencils, pens, markers, etc

Software that has these features are Corel Painter Essential. A software for all painters. If you buy a Wacom Intuos, you usually have that software for free depends on what model you are choosing.

Hi, I just want to tell you that this is an old topic, I don’t know why people still answer to this, anyways as you can read this is dated april 20, and my skills changed from april.
