Studio becomes SUPER LONG in test modes

Here is what my studio normally looks like:

Here is what happens when I launch a Run/Play mode: (picture is cut off because my monitor does not extend that far down)

Bug description:
The window is greatly stretched downward here. The FoV is not changed, that’s just how long the window is. I suspect it’s because of the closed widgets opening for some reason and stacking, stretching the window. Even the built-in roblox Terrain plugin gets stacked on the left, which is supposed to be tabbed alongside Properties

System:
This is on windows 10

Date started happening:
No clear date but this has been happening to me & others for at least a few weeks

Repro:
You can probably try reproducing this bug by installing multiple plugins with widgets that are open by default, moving terrain tools widget, and launching a test & switching to server mode. Even if you close the widgets before starting a test, they’ll be reopened in the test window. If this repro fails, restart your computer or wait til roblox updates and your test-mode’s plugin layout should revert.

Other info:
My workflow is trashed when this bug happens, and it happens every day I open studio & start a test. I have to close all open widgets again, resize the window to show the bottom half of the program with the output etc, and also drag the terrain tools back to the right side under properties.

To add on to this bug, switching between Server & Client mode have different randomized layouts :upside_down_face:

I believe this is caused by a launch argument passed to studio. Your layout has an identifier and that argument changes that identifier. For now I’d recommend editing your studio settings file (I don’t remember where it is) or just changing the layout within studio test mode.

I do agree that this is really annoying.

I was about to make a thread about having this bug but I see others have the same issue as I do.

For some reason Studio gets very elooongated at random, to the point where the bottom is cut off because it doesn’t fit on my monitor.

And it doesn’t even always happen when I play/test, it literally happens at random when I leave it idle for a bit or minify the window to the taskbar.

This is caused by Studio now attempting to scale to contain widgets, respecting their minimum sizes IIRC.

This whole situation seems like a wicked combination of multiple bugs (including https://devforum.roblox.com/t/studio-windows-plugin-widgets-almost-never-save-their-locations/234145 ) that happens in the 3 test modes AND opening teamcreate.

This might be slightly unrelated but I also often have widgeds positioned almost off screen, I’m unable to drag or close them because the [X] button is positioned off-screen.
It might be because my taskbar is at the top of my screen (not a lot of people have that apparently and some think it’s weird that I do)
but I also feel like this is also an Roblox issue.

Yea I know a bunch of people that have their taskbar on the top (or side)

Are you saying the widgets become placed there because of the bug where it resets their positions? Or is it a general bug you could make a new thread for, that if you accidentally drag a widget up there it can’t be moved

It’s literally that sometimes when I open a widget, it gets positioned inside my taskbar and yes, positions don’t always save either.

This is also a thing on Windows 7. When you test and you’re emulating more than 1 player, crazy stuff happens. Some windows are normal, on some all widgets are open, and sometimes studio goes crazy and starts in the smallest scale possible with all widgets open.

Hey,

This topic has a solution here.
