Studio Framerate Issues

Roblox Studio framerate issue, locked to 20FPS or lower since the beginning of the week. No change in my setup. This has happened before months ago, but I narrowed it down to RivaTuner and have since disabled it. I have read through these 2 forum posts already and the suggestions have still not fixed my issue.

I made sure there is no FPS limiter on studio or in general in Nvidia Control Panel.

Looks like it’s tied to how many studio “windows” i have, for example the toolbox, explorer, properties, etc. Each window i have open decreases my fps by a certain amount. In addition, when i unfocus the studio program, i can see that it goes back to running smoothly (60+fps), but within 1 second of focusing on studio again, it will go back to the low fps (depending on how many of the “windows” i have open). This has happened to me before, and i solved it by disabling my rivatuner program. However, this time around, i do not have rivatuner running. In addition, the studio script editor window is completely unusable for me - it feels like there is a 2 second delay when i try to scroll & type

This is severely impacting my ability to work this week.

Please refer to this post on how to get microprofiler dumps. We cannot help without one.

I’ve attached a microprofiler dump. The huge spike starting in the middle is when i refocus the studio app.

The frame delays are very consistently 33ms, which would correlate to a 30 FPS lock.

Do you happen to have some sort of vsync or similar on? You said you checked your NVIDIA control panel, but maybe you also have to change your monitor settings or similar?

Here’s another microprofile dump that may give you more context. Here I am opening and closing various studio windows: explorer, toolbox, properties, 3rd party plugins, etc. Each one does seem to set the frame delays to some sort of 1/x value. When the framerate returns to normal briefly is when i unfocus the studio app.

I have tried having vsync off, on, fast (in nvidia control panel), turning off my monitor’s gsync, switching monitor refresh rate, all causing the same issue.

Hi, did you try turning off g-sync from nvidia panel? Having the script editor open causes severe lag in Studio - #7 by Panwellz

I just opened studio after not opening it for several days. Between then and now, something changed that is making it lag really bad when it didn’t before. It resolves by turning G-Sync off, but the issue wasn’t present for me last week. I had G-Sync enabled with no issues then and for many months at least.

Turning off G-Sync did fix this issue for me. However, like @Extuls mentioned, this did not cause any issues for me until the beginning of this week.

I still appreciate you helping me to find a temporary solution. Thank you!

This fixed the issue for me as well, but as others have said, this issue was just introduced this week. I’ve been using studio for years with a g-sync monitor and have had no issues.

I will say there’s times in the past where the script editor has given me issues with G-Sync, but that hasn’t been present for me for quite a long time now. But the issue now is the entirety of studio, even before opening a place file.

having the same issue, it’s probably related to nvidia detecting roblox again

Hello, what’s the windows os version and build? Also, would you share what’s your the Render setting in Studio?
