Studio windows go black and flicker after a while

When running studio for a while, over time the studio UI starts flickering black and eventually goes fully black.

This only happens on studio for me, and seems to happen faster when I go into and out of playmode a few times.

It seems like the UI doesn’t render correctly however when moving/resizing or reloading the UI in any way it seems to show correctly for a split second.

I’m also unable to screen share the issue with others, as that shows the UI correctly. It’s only visible on my monitor.

You should provide log files and system information, see How to post a Bug Report for more info

Hi, interestingly enough we just fixed an issue yesterday with Play Solo yesterday - its possible its related. Have you noticed a change today on this?

More questions:

Does this occur on a new blank baseplate file?

Do you have a lot of plugins installed? Does this occur when you disable your installed plugins?

I actually haven’t noticed it in a while. It also seems like roblox studio doesn’t refresh the entire UI anymore when i go out of play mode. This might have fixed it, I’ll keep an eye on it

Ok thanks. The issue was tied to a hang in rendering (and incurring additional CPU usage after running play solo) so feels pretty close. I’m going to mark this fixed for now, but please reply here if the issue pops up again and we will investigate further.

The issue is back. For me, whenever I move any object in the Explorer, it flickers black until I drop it. I think it’s also worth mentioning that it makes my regular and Studio mouse icon blurry for whatever reason. This is really really annoying when I’m reordering assets into folders. This issue is only present on my new laptop I got a few days ago. It has Windows 11 Home, while the previous one had Windows 10 Pro and these issues were not happening at all.

Hi, possible to upload a video (understanding that that video may not capture the issue on screen recording - I’ve had folks record video of the screen itself from a phone) of this happening? Might help understand better. Is this using the new explorer beta or the old explorer? Sounds like its 100% or only sometimes? If it varies, does it matter what place is open?

I recorded a video on this laptop, but in the video, nothing happens. It’s only on my screen, but when I stop dragging the item, the mouse texture changes. My friend who also has a laptop is also experiencing this bug. I’m using the old explorer, it happens randomly, usually when I actually need to reorder something. When I’m just testing and reordering same stuff, it doesn’t happen. It’s completely random. And finally; no, it doesn’t matter what place is open. The new game I’m working on has the issue, just as the testing game one has.

I can also specify the laptop specs if you need it.

Right, screen recording might not get this, but if possible you could record the screen with a phone or something and send that in. Laptop specs will be helpful for sure.

Laptop specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) N4500 @ 1.10GHz 1.11 GHz
RAM: 8GB (7.75 usable)
Graphics Card: Intel UHD Graphics
Device: Asus VivoBook Laptop

Here’s a recording of what happens when I drag objects in the workspace.

Thanks, the video helps. It looks like the entire screen is going black from the vid - is that the case? Does it matter if Studio is windowed or not? Does it look different if windowed?
