Subscriptions: Expansion & New Features

Add ability to purchase subscriptions with Robux! Everything uses Robux which works perfectly well, even VIP servers why does subscriptions have to be in USD

@guidable Yes this is on our roadmap! We should have more to share on this in the coming months as well.

Having subscriptions with robux would be a game changer, i’d even see myself using buying subscriptions with robux, having a monthly subscription on my card, and in a viritual currency just seems like a huge differance!

Maybe even add subscription disscounts for Premium users?

How are subscriptions inherently bad?

They are typically a tactic to swipe money from customers when(not if ) they forget to cancel.

The vendor is not going to tell you this, they will paint it up really nice and make it seem awesome.

Yes, this makes sense, but that doesn’t necessarily make subscriptions bad themselfs.

depends on which side of the deal you are on! haha here are some more good examples of why its bad(or good):

Now that I think about it, private servers work in a similar way. I’ve forgotten to cancel some of them, resulting in some (a small amount) Robux lost.

I think the best way to combat this is for Roblox to implement a reminder system so people don’t forget they have them or not to allow subscriptions to automatically renew.

I think quite honestly if we wanted subscriptions, that we would actually get OUR money’s worth out of, we’d break ToS and do it through discord’s subscription model.

I much prefer the ‘season pass’ model that jailbreak uses. It is WAY more fair to the player. If you want the benefits you buy the season pass, you enjoy the season, it runs out, if you want to do it again, you initiate the purchase again.

If you have a good product you don’t need to trick people and try to steal their money.

Yes, the slow leak! You don’t see it, you don’t hear it but eventually you have a flat tire.

I need to check my private servers.

I appreciate this a lot, thank you for what you guys are doing,
with this feature I can offer some better services, and get around the complicated processes within development.

Allow console to buy premium so we can use Microsoft account balance

I want you to look at every game on this platform that can support itself + developers to maintain it. I want you to think, historically, about how this platform operates. I want you to think about the few things all these stuff have in common. Why is this a surprise to you?

No one would care about pets, tycoons, simulators, low poly, massive gui and bright colors if this wasn’t the case.

Here’s a fun secret behind the success and whatnot of a lot of games:

Kids are the most impressionable audience that you can obtain. They all relatively like the same things. They all have no real concept of money. They all want to feel accepted with other kids. Most importantly, they all want to fit in. Whether that be virtually or in real life. That’s essentially the formula behind Adopt Me and why it is / was insanely popular. It used pet collecting as an indirect form of currency to get kids / parent to spend money to fit in. Then, the kids who don’t fit in join to specifically, fit in. It’s baked into our society. If you don’t fit in, you’re consider weird. If you do fit in, you’re considered popular. Every school has that paradigm and when you get older, the paradigm shifts to how rich a person is and what class they fall into. And when you’re old and approaching the grave, it shifts to what legacy you left.

Think about how you grew up. There was always a person who started a trend (wearing a type of shoe, etc) and eventually everyone follows. Same principle. That’s why Roblox is so popular. Cash grabs are addicting to the average use for short periods of time and then, when that short period is up, they move to the next game, and so on.

That’s why I find it absolutely hilarious why some people on Twitter and here try to defend or paint this paradigm as some sort of falsehood. It’s not. That’s truthfully how I’ve made money on here. I’m not proud of it. At the end of the day, developing a game these days is not easy and in order to jump through a couple personal hurdles to provide for your users, you have to be willing to bend the rules a little.

With that in mind, I don’t think anyone is in the wrong here. Subscriptions are optional and the player has a choice to subscribe or not. I think that’s fair.

I prefer this over having someone hand over their bank information outright. At least with this, it’s easier to pull the plug and let a card run out vs. forgetting about the charge and watching money disappear out of your account. I think a lot of parents would probably agree.

I would like to be able to purchase a subscription with Roblox Credit!

In my opinion, offering subscriptions for USD is cool and all, but there’s a lot of issues. You guys forget 40% of Roblox Users are -13. Imagine being a minor telling your parents to pay a monthly payment for something in a Roblox game, it is something hard to be convincing with. Whereas Robux, simply if they can’t pay the recurring payment, it simply cancels it, same as it does with a VIP server. This is basic logic.

We’re expanding subscriptions availability to more markets! Users in Canada, Chile, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and Thailand will now be able to subscribe within experiences.

If you are using DisplayPrice in the GetSubscriptionProductInfoAsync API to determine whether to surface subscriptions for sale, this will update automatically to include pricing for these newly supported locations. An updated list of unsupported locations can be found in our docs. We hope to expand to more over the coming months.

Thanks!

This is incorrect notation, should be 6.99 not comma

it also appears that localized prices are not updated correctly for inactive subscriptions using the API

would like for this to be the case so I can show what the “undiscounted” price of a subscription would be

sorry if im late, but i think never bcz they want to replace robux with USD which is going to be released (or it’s already) and if you don’t sell your development item (example: Plugins) for USD, Roblox will make your plugin offsale.
