Super Striker League - V2.1 Update Notes

(August 1, 2020) V2.1 - Update Notes

  • The new mechanics for catching the ball (AKA “drops”) have been removed. Whoever touches the ball first will once again get the ball - it is no longer based on the timing of your tackle.
    • I removed the new mechanics because it made the game overly dependent on what your ping is - if you were playing on different ping, you had to completely change your timing, and it negatively impacted a lot of people’s skill. On paper it was intended to make the game more fair and consistent, but in reality the changes were not working as intended, and many people weren’t enjoying the changes, so they were reverted.
  • Added new Win Condition setting for Private Matches: “Time or Goals”. This allows you to have a timer but also end the game if a certain number of goals are reached.
  • Adjusted the Trade Up Trinkets system so you only need 3 Trinkets to trade up to the next tier, instead of 5.
  • Added a button to open up to x10 crates at once.
  • The first 7 Basic Crates a player opens will be guaranteed to contain headgear, shoes, or gloves. Afterwards, Trinkets and Item Augmentor Lites will be weighted more heavily in Basic Crates.
  • Adjusted the weighting of Epic rewards from Supply Crates (Double XP Orbs now have a 33% chance of appearing, and Purple Trinkets have a 67% chance of appearing - the old weighting was 50%/50%)
  • Added a new mechanic to prevent Legendary dry streaks when opening crates. If you open enough crates such that you’ve reached 150% of the Legendary drop rate, and you still haven’t received a Legendary, your next crate will be guaranteed to give a Legendary item. (For example, the Legendary drop rate of a Tier 4 Crate is 26%. If you open 5 of those crates without getting a Legendary, the 6th of that crate will put you at 156% of the drop rate, so it will be guaranteed to have a Legendary.) (Equipment Crates and Supply Crates use separate counters for this system)
  • The Item Augmentor Lite now awards +2500 XP, up from +1000 XP.
  • Reduced how long boulders knock you down for.
  • Reduced how long the Invincibility star knocks you down for.
  • Fixed an issue where more than 8 players could join a public server.
  • Made various other bug fixes.

(July 7, 2020) V2.0 - Update Notes

Super Striker League updates are back!
Today the game sees some big changes, with a huge overhaul of the equipment system, a brand new user interface, updates to the trading system, and more! Read on for the details about all of the changes.

New Equipment System

The equipment system has received a complete overhaul!

  • You can now manually control how you assign stats and abilities to your items. Abilities have been converted into Trinkets, a new type of item that can be applied to a specific piece of equipment to provide stat bonuses.
  • Item levels have been converted to use a new scale of Levels 1-100+. For each level an item gains, you will be able to manually assign 1 additional stat point to the item for a small fee. (The fee increases for higher level items.)
  • New items are now available to help you upgrade your equipment even further!

(This update has not changed existing items’ stats or abilities in any way - they were just converted into the new format.)

If you want the long, detailed post about all the specific changes that were made, you can find it here: Super Striker League - Plans for a New Equipment System

New Items

Trinkets:

  • Bronze/Silver/Gold Trinkets - Each Trinket contains a specific passive ability, as well as the potential for secondary stat boosts. Add a Trinket to a piece of equipment to apply its bonuses to the item! Higher-tier Trinkets provide stronger bonuses. Bronze has a 25% effect, Silver has a 50% effect, and Gold has a 100% effect.
  • Purple Trinkets - These extra-rare Trinkets contain new abilities that will enhance your progress:
    • Player XP Boost: +3% Bonus XP towards your Player Level
    • Item XP Boost: +3% Bonus XP for the item this is attached to
    • Cash Earnings Boost: +3% Cash Earned after each game
    • Pro Player XP Boost: +6% Bonus Player XP when you score 750+ Points in a game
    • Pro Item XP Boost: +6% Bonus XP for this item when you score 750+ Points in a game
    • Pro Cash Earnings Boost: +6% Cash Earned when you score 750+ Points in a game
  • Trinkets are tradable and sellable. (The more stat points a Trinket contains, the higher its sell price will be)

New Premium Items available in the Shop:

  • Item Augmentor - Instantly increases an item’s level by 1, up to Level 100! (After Level 100, adds +5000 XP to the item instead.)
  • Stat Recalibrator - Use this to manually reassign an item’s stat points however you want!
  • Trinket Extraction Kit - Safely removes a Trinket from an item, allowing you to use it again in the future!

New Crates:

  • Supply Crate - Contains Trinkets and other brand new rewards described below
  • Rare Supply Crate - Contains only Rare supplies and above.
  • Epic Starter Crate - Available as part of the new Starter Pack. (Untradable) 100% guaranteed to provide an untradable Epic piece of equipment as a reward.
  • Basic Crate updated to contain Supply Crate rewards as well as wearable equipment pieces. Basic Crates will also contain the new Item Augmentor Lite (Uncommon) which applies +1000 XP to an item when used.

Supply Crate Rewards:

  • Trinkets
  • Overclocker (Legendary) - Raises the maximum number of points you can assign to a single stat on an item! Up to 4 Overclockers can be used on an item, raising the limit from 60 to 100 points per stat.
  • Trinket Slot Unlocker (Legendary) - Use this to unlock an extra Trinket slot for an item, up to a maximum of 4 slots!
  • Double XP Orb (Epic) - Activate this mysterious orb to receive Double XP for 24 hours!

Pro Tickets

Reroll Tickets have been renamed to Pro Tickets, the premium currency now used to purchase Stat Recalibrators, Trinket Extraction Kits, and Item Augmentors, as well as cosmetic items such as Uniforms and Celebrations. Pro Tickets can be purchased in the Shop.

If you had any leftover Reroll Tickets before the update, they’ve been converted to Pro Tickets at a 1:20 ratio.

(Since the reroll mechanic has gone away, players who own the Preferred Stat Rolls gamepass have received a special gift of 1,000 Pro Tickets, 25 Item Augmentors, 1 Stat Recalibrator, and 3 Trinket Extraction Kits as a thank you for supporting the game!)

Starter Pack

This brand new, limited-time deal is available in the Shop for all new and returning players. The Starter Pack contains $10,000 Striker Cash, 25 Item Augmentors, and 1 Epic Starter Crate for a hugely discounted price of 999 Robux 199 Robux!

New User Interface

The game’s interface has a brand new look now, and there’s been lots of upgrades to make everything easier to navigate and manage - in particular, the inventory system has received a big upgrade!

  • The inventory has been moved to the Customize menu, so you can now manage and equip your items all from the same screen
  • You can sort all your items based on lots of different criteria (such as Rarity, Level, Name, and more)
  • You can Favorite items to easily find them later - a warning will also be displayed if you try to sell a favorite item.
  • You can set a Nickname for an item, and you can search for items based on nickname. (Other players will not see the nicknames you give to your items)
  • More information is now displayed on each item panel, making it easier to see an item’s stats/abilities at a glance

Inventory Space

  • There has always been an inventory space limit - this limit is now more clearly displayed in your inventory. Shoes, Gloves, Headgear, and Trinkets contribute to the limit - all other items do not.
  • The starting inventory limit has been reduced to prevent players from overflowing their inventories with more items than they can manage. You can upgrade your inventory to hold more items for a Cash fee, up to the maximum possible limit of 500 items.

Player Stats Page

You can now see all of the stats you’ve achieved throughout your SSL career (such as wins, goals, assists, and more) by clicking on the trophy icon on the main menu, and you can also see other players’ accomplishments by clicking on their character! You can also take a closer look at the equipment that someone else is wearing. (If you don’t want other players to be able to examine your equipment, you can turn that off via the Settings menu)

There are also new overhead name displays in the hub/lobby, allowing you to see other players’ levels!

New Social Options

Instead of finding someone’s name on a list, you can now click directly on someone’s character to access the following options:

  • Invite to Party/Join Party
  • Add Friend
  • Trade

You can also set your “Who can join my party” setting to “Everyone” to allow anyone to click on you and join your party at will.

Trade System Updates

A couple of updates have been made to the trade system:

  • Crates are now tradable, and all the new modifier items mentioned earlier are also tradable!
  • In-game Cash is now tradable (There is a limit to how much Cash each player can send and receive per day - this limit goes up for higher level players)
    • Level 25-49: $25,000 Limit
    • Level 50-99: $100,000 Limit
    • Level 100-249: $250,000 Limit
    • Level 250+: $1,000,000 Limit
  • Each player can now trade 6 item stacks at a time
  • To make trading safer and more secure, players now need to reach Level 25 before they unlock the ability to trade

New Private Match Options + Spectator Mode

Spectator Mode is here, making it much easier to host tournaments, organized matches, or watch your friends face off in an intense 1v1! Now up to 16 players can join a private match (up to 8 players and 8 spectators).

There are also new options for private matches:

  • “Start Game” setting: When this is set to Manual, the match will only start when the server owner clicks the Start Game button in the menu.
  • Team Sizes: Control how many players can join each team.
  • Assign Teams: Before starting the game, the owner of a private match can now manually assign each player’s teams via the menu, or randomize the teams.

Game Adjustments/Balance Changes

  • If the ball has been kicked high into the air from around half-field, the goalie will grab the ball and throw it much farther away if it makes contact with them. This is to discourage using long rebounds as an easy tactic to enter the enemy zone.
  • When players are trying to catch an airborne ball with a tackle, there are now new rules to consistently determine who wins the ball in these situations.
    • These new rules are activated after the ball has reached a peak height of at least 13 studs (a little over 2x the height of a character) and then falls back down to the ground or touches a player:
      • Players who are currently tackling and are within 6 studs of the ball’s landing location are eligible to win the ball.
      • Of these players, the person who started their tackle at the latest possible moment will win the ball.
      • If multiple players started their tackles at the exact same time, the one who’s closest to the ball’s landing location will win the ball.
    • If nobody was able to win the drop, then the old rules will still apply - whoever touches the ball first will claim the ball.
    • Previously, the winner would often come down to luck - now it’s more dependent on each player’s timing and positioning, and each player should have a fair chance at winning the drop. Note that you will still have to account for ping - if you have higher ping, you need to start your tackle earlier so that the server will get your input in time. Just because you’re tackling on your screen doesn’t mean the server sees you tackling yet. If your character sparkles when you tackle the ball, that’s how you know your timing is correct. You also still need to lead in front of where the ball will land, just like how you would catch drops before.
  • Auto Tackling has been adjusted so that if another player has the ball, you need to be aiming much more directly at them, or the tackle will not lock on.
  • The normal power-up spawn rate has been slightly decreased. Before, a power-up would spawn every 6 to 10 seconds. Now one will spawn every 9 to 13 seconds.
  • The diminishing returns formula for passive abilities has been adjusted. Stacking multiple copies of the same ability will now have a slightly stronger effect than it did before.
  • Slightly adjusted the effects of Trinket perks to be more balanced.
    • Increased effect of Super Stun Reduction
    • Increased effect of Shot Damage Boost
    • Increased effect of Skillshot Power Boost
    • Increased effect of Super Conservation
    • Slightly reduced effect of Sprint Speed Up
    • Reduced effect of Sprint Stamina Saver, but also decreased the base amount of stamina used by sprinting.
    • Reduced effect of Fast Stamina Regen, but also increased the base stamina regen rate.
      • These changes even each other out, so if you have these abilities, you’ll still have close to the same stamina rates as before. In the past though, you’ve pretty much been required to have these abilities if you wanted to play well at a higher level - I want to open up different options for people, rather than everyone being required to use the same abilities.
    • All other perks also indirectly got a slight buff, due to the way the diminishing returns formula was changed.
  • Slightly adjusted the effects of the Speed and Defense stats and reduced the amount of diminishing returns applied to them. What that means: Before, if you raised your Speed or Defense from 0 to 100, you would see a major improvement, but if you raised it from 200 to 300, you’d barely see any change. Now these stats will have more of an impact at higher levels.
  • When the goalie saves the ball, it will be sent at a higher angle so that the new drop mechanics will be triggered consistently.
  • Increased the visibility of the ball’s shadow.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed tackling before the kickoff.
  • Fixed a bug where the ball could get carried inside of the net without actually scoring.
  • The goalie will grab the ball if it gets stuck underneath them. Also fixed a rare bug where the goalie could throw the ball out of bounds.
  • An in-game ping indicator can now be toggled via the Settings menu.
  • Added a new setting to hide notifications/invites while in the middle of a game.
  • All-Star pass owners can toggle whether their All-Star tag will be displayed in chat.
  • Increased Super gained over time for teams that are trailing by a lot of points
  • Updated the appearance of boulder power-ups.
  • Bombs are now tinted to match the team color of the person who threw them.
  • Fixed an issue where shots could be blocked by players who are behind the ball.
  • When a shot is blocked by an opponent, the ball’s velocity is reduced by 50%.
  • Each player’s number of passes is now displayed on the scoreboard. Give props to the teammates who make good passing plays!
  • Updated the super meter and game message GUIs.
  • Added new messages when there is 1 minute/30 seconds left in a game.
  • Up to 3 players can now receive assist credit for a goal scored.
  • Slightly increased the amount of Cash earned after each game.
