Surface appearance displacement

this would help alot for players who dont know how to use blender.

with this feature, materials like these could be added and make games look more realistic.
this addition would make materials in roblox studio look more immersive then being flat.
just because it can be done in blender doesnt mean it shouldnt be a feature in roblox studio

Displacement maps use high poly mesh. Roblox is a game that should would or many low-end devices and displacement maps would be catastrophically unoptimized to run on these devices.

These developers should just learn how to use blender. What you’re asking for is basically a crutch that would either rely on highly unoptimized, wasteful meshes with large poly counts, or worse, dynamically splitting surfaces on meshes into a much large amount of subdivisions and being equally as unoptimized when a developer could have hand-crafted a more appropriate mesh that didn’t use so many polys.

ok then a good property for a material would be max poly count
blender is very confusing to me i will never understand it

That is an awful suggestion. Max poly count would be incredibly hard to maintain and implement for such a small thing.

There are numerous tutorials. If you still can’t learn it, then hire someone. If you can’t hire someone, then.. well make friends and ask them to make stuff for you. If you can’t even do that then I don’t know.

I feel like a better suggestion would be for pom or spom, because a displacment map only works if you have enough geometry, and if you already have that geometry you can just bake it onto the mesh

i like this idea. unlike jack he just downsized and mocked everything, not adding anything to the conversation or suggesting much. while you brought something new to the suggestion.
