The shape of layered clothes looks unnaturally different when it goes on sale

This issue is currently happening with all of my past uploads and all similarly shaped layered clothes in the catalog.

When wearing the clothes in the studio on a woman body type

There is no problem with the clothes when the character wearing it moves, and when I put this item up for sale, it must be worn without any issues.

When a real player wears the clothes after the item goes on sale (CAC)

When the clothes are actually worn, the costume is stuck to the character and the body is visible through parts of the clothes.
When the character moves, the body shape seriously pops out of the clothes. This happens regardless of whether the sleeves are long or short.
In the case of pants, the shape between the legs deforms into a weird shape, with leg sticking out unnaturally.
I’m sure it looked fine when I uploaded it before, but now, every clothes I’ve uploaded in the past has a similar problem. This issue ruining the clothes.

This is a very serious issue, and if there has been any recent updates to layered clothes, this should be fixed quickly.
In addition, the issue in this post is still waiting to be resolved. There have been a number of issues with layered clothes recently, and I hope to see them all resolved quickly!

This could be due to different shapes and sizes of avatars. The first video avatar could be a different build to the avatar in the second video. Maybe try it with different body types, shapes and sizes to easily see when skin is showing.

If it isn’t this it could be a bug that needs to be reported.

Hi George, thanks for your advice!

I’ve been making LCs with similar templates for the past 8 months without any problems, and after uploading an item, I go through the process of checking that it works for all female body types in CAC. The clothes have always been compatible with that body type (woman), but suddenly I’m having problems, so I thought something has changed in the Roblox LC system and there’s a bug there.

Note that the body in the studio was imported from the RigBuilder - R15 - Feminine - Mesh Avatar (2012) body type, and the body in CAC is the default Woman body type in CAC - no resizing was done!

Thanks for the reply Lily,
I’m sorry but if there is no weird bug in the Roblox LC system then I’m not sure what could be happening here, I’m pretty new to Roblox development.

This is just an acknowledgment announcement!

We’ve filed a ticket into our internal database for this issue, and will come back as soon as we have updates!

Thanks for flagging!

Is autoskinning on? This could be causing issues when the armature retargets, for this type of accessory you should use EnabledPreserve or Off

Hi! Are you referring to this part?
Auto Skin is off for my outfits and has always been off in all LCs I’ve made so far, and I’ve never had a problem with it. Has this setting changed so that I need to turn it on…? :scream:

Hello, I am still waiting for the resolution of this issue. Will there be an update?

did you ever solve this? its happening on my item too

in cac/roblox

in studio

it really sucks that my friend wasted 20 bucks to upload this for me

This issue is not yet resolved for me :pensive:

All layered clothes are still tearing up when actually uploaded

i think i found the issue your outercag is intersecting the clothing or is too far away from it but also for me the armpits are always broken idk why

Hey @pond_ugc and @coolchristopher912_2 , are you both still seeing this issue? We’ve made a bunch of updates to Layered Clothing, let me know if this is still an issue. Thank you!

This issue still occurs from time to time.
Even models that look correct in the Acc Fitting Tool and in Studio tests sometimes become torn or distorted after upload, and there have been cases where we had to give up publishing because of it.

I’m curious - do you ever see the same piece of clothing upload differently between different uploads?

Not every time, but I have experienced that occasionally.
So I sometimes assumed it was caused by the Roblox engine not fully loading during upload, which made the clothing appear torn.
It’s still hard to know exactly what the root cause is, but the way the layered clothing tears does look similar to when the engine hasn’t fully loaded and I equip layered clothing too early.

I was able to reproduce this on my end - it seems pretty sporadic. We’re taking a look!

OK so we think we know the root cause (bad/outdated/missing HSR data), but are trying to figure out a workflow that would cause this. Some things that might help us diagnose, for the assets that are not working properly -

  • Was the place where the clothing items were published or a local RBXL?
  • What steps (e.g., import FBX → Run Accessory Fitting Tool → Right-click Save to Roblox) did you follow to publish it?
  • Was the mesh that didn’t work the 2nd or later variant of the same item, or the only one of its kind?
  • Was TeamCreate on?

Thanks for your patience on this issue - it’s been a difficult one to reproduce and track down but we’re getting closer.

on the dresses that i showed

  1. Published
  2. Import FBX > Run Accessory Fitting Tool > Save to Roblox
  3. It’s completely random and unpredictable it could be either however it occurs more often than not, I’d say about 80% of the uploads are bugged and even when they’re “unbugged” there’s a big gap between the body and clothing
  4. No
