This Is An Outrage!

ROBLOX IS ADDING BUILD??!!

Roblox is adding an AI “building” app for the phone??? Where you can make a game in MINUTES!!! This is ridiculous. Do you know how long it took to make a solid community and games??? I put hard work and effort into those. And I think most developers did too. Now this thing comes along and can make better games than I ever did in minutes! It’s sad. Look at my group. It’s been around since January of 2023, and I just got 64 group members. Now people can get hundreds of people in a year with the help of “AI”. I just hope nobody uses it. And many games are going to be copied. For example, someone can just describe Animal Hospital or Brookhaven and make a utopia game with a couple descriptive words. This is past limiting. It is destroying creativity. It’s also encouraging people to talk to AI for hours on end (which is horrible) and keep creating knock-off games. I am betting that by end of this year, 99.999% of games on Roblox is going to be AI.

An Appeal

Age Check

The age check won’t last long. Roblox is losing thousands of money from this “campaign”. I can already see Roblox moving slowly away from it. How do I know this? The first sign of moving away was changing the requirements to publish games from “must have a Roblox Plus subscription” (which is outrageous) to “must have Roblox Plus OR Premium” (that’s a little bit more relieved, but I still don’t think that’s good…). The second sign was adding the “quick chat” feature (which is basically useless). Roblox’s original idea of the age check with the chat was to protect users from bad users, which is a good idea, but they turned it into this not-even-worth-it and privacy removing evaluation process. But seriously, the quick chat has only words like: “Okay”, “Good game”, “Spread out”, “Attack”, or “Hold this area”. 90% of games on Roblox, that are still left, have nothing to do with these phrases. It doesn’t even have “Hi”, “Goodbye”, or “Friend request”. The latest sign is Roblox has stopped (for now) adding more age checks features, which could mean that either Roblox is losing too much money to add more security features or Roblox is making the worst yet age check requirement for something. One thing to note about places where the age check is literally useless (not that the rest of it isn’t useless) include:

  • Publishing games - what security advantage do you get from checking people’s ages and then saying: “ok you exist” and then lets you publish. If I was I Roblox’s shoes, that would be a waste of resources, money, and etc. to Persona.
  • Chat - if you can chat with people higher than you are, then isn’t it just letting ages higher take advantage, since an 18-year-old would look barely different to a 20-year-old. And with that logic, that would mean a 9-year-old, which can chat with 13-year-olds, could be chatting with a 14- or 15-year-old. And someone could look older or younger than they really are. And who cares their age group as someone could easily fake it by adult for child and child for adult. Anybody could as easily switch their camera during the age check. The age check focuses the security, but along with focusing security you focus insecurity. That is the way with anything in life. You make a rule, someone is willing to break it. “If there’s a will, there’s a way”. Don’t think that if you did the age check, which you probably shouldn’t have, you are decisively chatting with your age group because yet again, faking. Removing the age check in this would allow for players to add their own security measures such as paying attention to WHO, HOW, and WHAT is being chatted. Here is my security sequence that does not require a security breaching age check. I am saying that this is a good baseline for security on Roblox. I do not mean go off and do whatever you want if you think it’s safe. I just mean it’s a good idea for identifying bad things in addition to if your account is linked parental controls and/or is supervised. Just don’t take chances with things.

With this diagram, the age check is useless.

WORK IN PROGRESS

I am still working on this topic and will be updating it over time. Thank you.

I can’t wait for Roblox to burn $300M dollars on this, shut it down, and then increase the price of everything to recoup their losses

I feel like everyone is exaggerating this then what it really presents. Firstly, AI has a VERY OBVIOUS art style. Whether its Game Dev, Art, Video, etc. They have a specific techniques they use which is again.. super obvious to tell if it’s AI or not. Yes I don’t support having AI Generated Games, but going as far as saying this:

And many games are going to be copied

Is just a exaggeration as AI has a lot of flaws, it will take them at least 5 years until it can somewhat get consistent, and even then. They will still use specific techniques that will make it obvious of AI game or human made game.

Age check is something Roblox is aware that is not a good system. Unfortunately due to many governments demanding age verification, they have to comply to it until they can somehow find a better system.

Sorry but I DO NOT agree with this. Do you want to know how majority of these incidents happen? It’s 3 things

  1. Parents fail to supervise their child
  2. That Child obviously didn’t got taught internet Safety
  3. They were AWARE of the signs and still choose to engage instead of blocking them

Do you really believe that having players “Add tHeIr own SecUrIty MeAsuReS” would actually work? Look what happened before schlep situation happened even outside of Roblox. That’s why companies have been taking security into their own hands because they would risk being sued by government for a reason that is out of a company’s control. I mean look at GTA 6, if I remember correctly. Rockstar announced there would be a age verification to play GTA 6?

I DO NOT support how Roblox handles this, but with countries suing Roblox and ask for demands, Roblox has to comply to these changes.

I hope you understand when Roblox first announced this. Not only they said Developers can make their own quick chat system. But they have also explicitly stated that “Hello, Friend Request” or anything that relates to Socializing is not allowed.

Post Linked: [March 26, 2026] An Update on Our Age Check to Chat Fast-Follow Roadmap

There’s more I can say about this post but I don’t want this reply to be as long as it needs to be.

If anything Roblox needs to remove the 500 HEP goal. That has essentially killed the small and indie developer overnight. For the first time in all my years on Roblox I’m genuinely considering going to a competitor platform and recommending others do the same.

To clarify I meant for players that if someone has the parental controls and etc., this would be a great addition to the security. I am saying that this is a good baseline for security on Roblox. I do not mean go off and do whatever you want if you think it’s safe. I just mean it’s a good idea for identifying bad things in addition to if your account is linked parental controls and/or is supervised.

Also, if people can follow their own security measures and/or parental supervision, that’s on them. Roblox shouldn’t force everybody to follow their security measures, that are worse than not having them, and how do people stay safe on other games such as Minecraft? They follow parental supervision and/or their own security measures. It’s the same thing in real life. For example, when you go to a store and they say: “Here’s 5 giant cheese blocks for $50 dollar”. You have to be careful as they could have hollowed out the cheese blocks and now you just bought 5 giant hollow cheese blocks for way more than they would be if they were whole. The same thing happens online as you could go to a store online and order a sculpture for $50. It shows up as a terrible, clay, knock-off sculpture. In a security sense, in real life, you could have somebody say: “I can copy the key to your house! Just give me key and the address so I can drop it off”. Now you just gave a burglar your key. Online, someone could say: “Google Login: Login here with your password!” Now you just gave fake Google your password. IT CAN HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE AND ONLINE.

In addition,

This is not what I meant at all. Developers making their own quick chat system is not relevant to the topic. I was merely stating a complaint because Roblox’s quick chat is basically useless as the words have nothing to do with 90% of games.

roblox said that AI slop games won’t be on the front page, so you don’t have to worry about it

they’re legally required to have it, even roblox said age checks is unpopular, either age checks or get banned in more countries

Good analogy, and I do agree with you. It can indeed happen in real life and just online in general. I think more so its a lot more easier for a child to be taken advantage quicker/faster without supervision as it doesn’t help much when parents doesn’t teach or at least supervise the child’s internet.

That’s why I always say to other dev that post a similar thing like "To a certain degree it’s not Roblox fault. They put chat filters, and then even after all of the chat restrictions. Pretty sure people are still being taken advantage of which shows that it lies on the predator and the victim (parent or child).

I see. I apologize for misunderstanding your original point. I assumed it was about “There isn’t no ‘hello’ or anything related to just a gentle low-risk socializing messages”. I do agree I think their choice of quick words isn’t really the greatest and should at least be more.. generalized if that makes sense.

if I remember correctly, they are allegedly going to rework this HEP goal? Maybe I’m thinking something else.

I do think the requirement is quite high. If they want to keep it, perhaps lower to 100?

Other solutions is obviously a fee (which I 100% support) and a proper evaluation. With systems to investigate any issues/risk (and it will be a hard search, not just light search), if there are false flags, the developer can provide evidence and/or explanation to counter that false flag.

Yeah, it’s such a massive hurdle to overcome just so you can get to the majority of Roblox’s userbase to the point where it really is just easier to use another platform until it’s not such an issue.

You would be correct, apparently they are gonna do something in early August, we can only hope that they either remove it completely or nerf to like you said 100. They did recently rework it so that you have to maintain 25 HEP in order to keep the game open to all ages, which I don’t get why don’t they just set it to 25 HEP from the start. If they don’t do anything significant, all I have to say for that is, it’s near the end for developing on roblox and to look elsewhere.

A fee can definitely work and is way more reasonable than this HEP crap. 5K-10K would be great for most, even though it should be free since you already have to pay 1000 or have plus.

A task force made up of contracted community members would be the best route for moderation of games. This task force can be 100-300 members strong or more easily. Alot of us are willing to do this for free even if it means bringing Roblox back to being good.

wrong category

put this post in Development Discussion so more people see this

anyways, they are putting so much budget on AI but not on other things which are also important, and well that’s one thing that i dont like

Roblox deleted my post for putting it under development discussion
