This is my first terrain. What do you think?

This is my first terrain I did since they updated it. Please throw your honest opinion at me, your honest criticism at me, and please help me out by telling me how I can fix the negative things about this terrain, and also, I don’t know what this is so… A grass little cave I guess, in a open field of grass? Also, please tell me some TIPS AND TRICKS. It will help me our greatly! Thanks!

Summary

I noticed you new comers looking more into the little pond than the updated photo and I figured out that I should of updated it here
Here’s the new and improved one!

Improved terrain

It feels very empty, maybe add some mountains in the background and a few rocks here and there.

The lighting fits very nicely with it, though.

Looks good honestly, maybe add more detail around it.

Thanks! I totally wasn’t thinking of that! I’ll definitely add some rocks and trees and some mountains.I’m not sure how the mountains will fit, maybe share an example?

Hello!

This looks great for a first completed version! The lighting that you’ve used adds depth to the landscape, and I feel it is used very well. However, I do find the scene a bit bland. I think a few trees and possibly some mountains would increase the detail very much.

Awesome job for a first attempt, and good luck! Thank you for reading~

Thank you for your opinion! I never thought the scene could be good and expected negative opinions LOL I’ll update with trees around it, thanks!

Looks very nice!

Feedback:

  • Maybe add more around the back so it doesn’t look like a random lump.

  • Add some dirt maybe around it.

  • Also you could add some hills/mountains in the background.

What do you guys think of this? I also need to learn how to do 3d modeling to make some realistic trees to throw in there  So for now I only have this.

Very Good! Though I suggest to make the grass areas more lumpy, and more varying with textures.

Is there a way I can make the grass more lumpy? And what do you mean by more varying? Sorry if I’m being dumb, I’m not good with words LOL I’m a slow and fast learner haha

Add hills to it to make the terrain seem more realistic. By varying I mean differing textures (Ex: Dirt and Ground instead of just grass). This makes it seem alive.

Oh, alright, I’ll try that out! Thanks for the advice! I greatly appreciate it!

One thing I use is a plugin called Part-to-Terrain. It’s very cool, using standard parts to build terrain as well as delete terrain. After a few hours using it you’ll love it. I’ve generated a mountainous terrain, then used giant parts to remove mountains (example). Great for precise building.

I use part to terrain too  it helps me with making lakes and such. I didn’t think of making a mountainous terrain, I’ll try next time, thanks!

I recommend that you give more details and make a larger lake with trees. but it would look great to calm :open_mouth:

I don’t know how to make realistic trees, any way I could know how to or something? I’m guessing I’m gonna need blender? I made a few hills lumpy, here’s how it looks so far.

How does that picture look above? I added some slight hills and lumps I guess, I tried adding dirt but I don’t think you can see it.
