Thoughts on the Cafe I'm creating

So I’m working on MILK V2, some of you may remember MILK V1 from a few years ago. It’s based on the original style - but essentially what I want to know if it looks like a good build. I’ve never actually had criticism from other developers and I think it would be useful!

It is heavily WIP, I just want to know what I’m making right now is good. (Perhaps I’ll make a follow-up with the final product.)

Thanks!

Right now it’s heavily WIP, all that’s there is what i’ve shown.

I would post a link but it’s a group-game, and so I can’t show it without making it public on the group page.

Sorry! I’d be happy to do a follow-up sometime when it’s done and share the link then though.

Can’t you disable it on the group settings?

Taking into account that this is still a work-in-progress build, I think you’ve made good progress so far. I really like the 3D modelled logo you’ve created for the cafe and it’s clear that a lot of effort has been put into the furniture models too. With that said, as a project early in development, there are naturally a few slight improvements that could be made.

Room Purpose

At the moment, the grassy room showcased in the screenshots doesn’t seem have to have a clear purpose. There appears to be only two tables in the room, which suggests this isn’t primarily a seating area. I think the four fireplaces in the centre of the room also add to the confusion as they take up such a large amount of space.

If I were to offer a suggestion as to how this could be improved, I think defining a clear purpose for the room and building the room around that purpose moving forward would lead to a more practical and less confusing experience for the player, giving the room a clear meaning in the process.

Mismatching Exterior

The design of the exterior vastly differs. The right side of the building has the exterior of modern cafe, while the left side’s exterior resembles that of a large shopping centre or department store. I think the scale of each section and the different materials used are largely responsible for the mismatching appearance.

When you work on the exterior again, I think keeping the theme, colours, scale and materials consistent will really help tie the building together.

Conclusion

I think the build has a lot of potential! As I’ve mentioned above, I really like the logo you’ve modelled and I think the furniture is well made too. With a few slight improvements, I think you’d be well on your way to creating a fantastic cafe for players to enjoy.

okay, wow. This is one of the best roblox cafe builds I have ever seen! It is so detailed and modern, it looks absolutely amazing! You are very creative and this place will go far!

The detail is amazing! Great work on this café! I hope you guys have lots of success.

Looks great, the grass you added gives it a nicer touch and I can see there’s a lot of detail going into this cafe. You’ve made a lot of progress so far, everything looks good other than some of the mismatching areas, which really bugs me. Other than that good luck!

Looks amazing! I really like the good graphics in this build and how modern it looks with the design. I think this cafe would make a success.

The cafe is looking just fine. It would be helpful if you could publish this and let us actually walk around the cafe so we can give you better feedback. Good job so far though.

Hi! So in response to your response i’d like to mention a few things to clear stuff up!

So the garden type area is actually mostly aesthetic, the original cafe had one exactly a similar area and it acts more as a place to chill and for me to put the credits. I agree partly with the fire places, so will probably move those to the walls.

The exterior design is purposefully like that - the original style is the same and that’s one of the key MILK characteristics when you see one of our buildings on ROBLOX. We have made them like this since MILK was founded and the design concept is unlikely to change.

EDIT: Also let me just clarify something really quick which I forgot to mention! The front looks like that, but the sides and back go back to the cobble/pebble design, as did the original.

Thank you very much for your feedback though! I will make the appropriate changes to the garden area.

The new cafe’s design is based off the original Cafe V1 as well as our Milkyway Campus V1

Well done! I really like this build. I have one tip on how you can improve it an extra step. Instead of using the regular materials I suggest using textures to give it more of a variety! :stuck_out_tongue:

Great, interesting use of grass in the lounge area.

It looks amazing. Though if you want a more shiny tile floor, I suggest having it be slightly reflective. It gives it a shine effect. That is pretty much all the feedback I can think of.

MILK’s style isn’t particularly shiny. It’s only really the MILK logo that’s shiny to differentiate it from the rest of the cafe.

Thanks for the feedback!
