So in a recent post I wanted feedback on a lightning effect and within that post was a message of me simply stating I had no idea what I was going to use it for.
I took some great notes from @ChiefWildin into mind and started playing around. I got feedback from a friend as I tested, I should also mention he loves the anime “Attack on Titan”. So you could probably see where this is going now. He brought up something in the anime called “Titan Shifting” and he was attempting to make it, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to see what heights I can reach using VFX.
After much trial and error this was my final product. Please let me know if anything can be changed to make it better!

The titan has clothing on it to make sure I’m not stepping out of roblox’s rules in any way that I could think of, even if not direct.
For those trying to get started in VFX, it does take time to make a good or even decent VFX. If your first attempt doesn’t look like what you’d hope it’d look like, try something different, you’ll only get closer to a satisfactory product. Here are a few of steps I took to get to where it is right now. I’m also new to VFX but I think this is something that can be applied to all aspects of all fields.
For some reason I can’t get the final product video to load on any of my devices, but after watching your trial and error segments it looks like you’ve made great progress. Keep it up!
Thanks! I actually have a version with a titan model (got it from a friend, I’m not sure if it’s a free model), I wanted a way to keep the ball relatively small but still have the titan huge, I remembered that I made the player kneel so I made the titan spawn kneeled as well, if that makes it any better. I didn’t want to do a yell or roar cause that’s what every other AOT game with a titan shift did. There’s also a bit lag with all the parts and other places I have open, sorry about that!
I also made a quick tackle animation and a really crappy wall that could both use polishing, I won’t bother at the moment though cause it was just to show it off and for fun! I put some chairs in the gate entrance and tackled some friends as they realized I disabled the ability to jump, causing them to be stuck on the chair. The tackle is functional though, it isn’t just some animate-and-unanchor https://streamable.com/e8m3p https://streamable.com/e8m3p
I tried to crop this so you didn’t have to wait for me to get to the wall as the titan but it didn’t work out, sorry! @FrostedDucky
This was actually a small project, I’m a solo developer, I’m not sure if I’ll ever make a game that includes it, I’ve never published a project with the intent for it to be a “game”, I only publish what I would consider “tests”. I’m not the jack of all trades that I would like to be, at the moment, this was my step into VFX, but with all the positive feedback I’m getting, I may move onto another field and practice more at a later time. I really didn’t expect this much, I’m relatively new to the community and don’t know how to respond, I can’t help but heart everything you guys say!
Honestly, I think you should make a game with this. I’ve played other AOT games that just haven’t lived up to my expectations, but so far with what you have it does!
I’m seriously in love with the effects. Keep it up.
