Track analytics for deeplinks

As a Roblox developer, it’s difficult to track impressions and visits from links to our experiences (e.g. tracking how many players are acquired through an influencer marketing campaign or through social media posts). There’s deeplinks, which allow us to create custom join links, but these links are known to have issues (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) with correctly launching the experience let alone transferring the specified Launch Data.

Aside from the issues with deeplinks, there’s no built in way to view any analytics about generated links. A third party tool like Bitly or a custom analytics tool would have to be used in order to view any metrics, not to mention that these deeplinks are very cumbersome to set up for the average developer.

Developers would benefit greatly from having a built in solution on the creator hub / analytics dashboard to create custom links and to view acquisition metrics for these links without having to rely on third party tools.

Thanks for your feedback, this is something we’re actively evaluating.

Question - what will you use custom deep links for?

My main use cases would be marketing-related, like tracking how many players join a game from a particular Tweet, Discord announcement, YouTube video, etc., or giving an affiliate influencer a custom link to promote in a marketing campaign, which would allow us to track the effectiveness of these marketing methods.

Additionally, we could run campaigns using deeplinks such as giving players an in-game item or taking them to a specific location in the experience if they join the game from a specific link - this should technically be possible right now with deeplinks, but we’ve experienced too many issues to depend on them for production use in their current state. I’m hopeful to see any improvements to the system in the future, looking forward to being able to use them soon.
